Halo Master Chief Collection won’t install on pc and also says I have an update for MCC when it’s not even on my pc

Since the lastest update that added halo 3 i havent been able to install Halo MCC i keep getting error code 0x80073D12

In the end I solved it (at least for me, check out if it works for you as well).

I had the impression the game didn't install because in some way, even if I had the downloading drive for new applications set as the one with the most free disk space (D:), still the Store was actually trying to install on C:.

So I did the following: first go to the advanced settings for the Microsoft Store app and deactivate the option for making it run on background. Then open the Store app and cancel all pending downloads for Halo. Then go back to the app's advanced settings and click on the button to kill the process, then click on the button to reset the app. If for any reason you're prevented from taking these steps for some kind of error, restart the system first.

Then go to Settings > Storage and click on "Change Where New Content Is Saved". Now for me, when I opened this windows, everything was already set to D:, but in my opinion that was a plain lie. So, for the option regarding new apps, I switched to C (and clicked Apply) and then back to D (by clicking Apply again). Now at this point it might be that you'll see the classic Window's loading circles circling like for ever. If it does, still wait something like 30 or more seconds, then click on the Back arrow, and go back again to the "Change Where New Content Is Saved" page. You should see that the option for new apps is D again.

So now that theoretically the drive where to save the apps is REALLY set to D this time, open the microsoft store, select MCC and start downloading it (better not to select one of the single games that are part of the package, but you're free to try. Just to be sure I preferred to download the entire bundle).

    The problem is that the store was not developed to replace x86 "file.exe" programs in windows but as a mobile or console platform.

    It's not the game that has problems. It's not windows that has problems. It is the channel that is used to install the game that is not working.

    And since Microsoft has been testing not on hardware but on virtual machines it has gotten worse.

    They want to move forward, add improvements but they don't solve or consolidate.

    An acquaintance of mine has the pirated version. My anger is that EVERYTHING works! He has created a setup.exe from which he installs the expansions he wants and that's it.

    I have the store. I use the store. I install programs, games. Everything works. I install HMCC boom, problem. The microsoft......reset reset and format.

    Now after many countless resets something has changed, maybe something they did. You know what? The error message, now the error code has changed!

    Ridiculous.

    Hey man I'm curious if you've found any luck with this issue, I'm in the same boat, I've tried every solution in this thread and beyond but still getting errors when installing Halo MCC and a few other games via the MS Store and Xbox app. Seems like such an easy solution would just be to provide us few with this issue with a simple direct download link. Xbox phone support has been all but helpful in my correspondence with them.

    Unfortunately, I also tried this solution and it didn't work for me.

    But if anyone has managed to get through this, THIS IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE SOLUTION.

    The system should not force me to change settings to install all new apps. In fact, it warns that there is not enough space on drive C: asking which drive to install the game on. But then it fails.

    If the system had the normal "setup.exe" it would work without any problems.

    It is the store that is not designed well for these functions.

    The game originally on the pc was not designed for the store.

    Microsoft has no intention of releasing an alternate channel (setup.exe) to fix this.

    And through the store or through the windows app "xbox game" there are no developments to fix the problem and microsoft doesn't give refunds for this kind of purchase and doesn't care about fixing the problem.
