Others' (https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/192l9kj/cumulative_updates_january_9th_2024/kh32u6f/) and my updated 64-bit W10 Pro. PCs, I'm getting "Status: Download error - 0x80070643" with "2024-01 Security Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5034441)" in 64-bit W10 Pro. right now. I already rebooted once from other today's updates:

Couldn't MS do this to its users automatically without having to do it manually for non-technical users? :/

    And the impossible update is ttill there - NOT withdrawn...

    Thanks for the post. I did something similar - shrinking the main partition by 250MB with the Windows built Disk Management app then following instructions on this page

    After retrying the update once or twice and then rebooting once or twice (it gets confusing after a while) Windows 10 shows that the update installed and all is up to date.

    Oooh interesting.

    Further to my earlier posts, KB5034441 installed quietly on it's own on one of the four win 10 machines it failed on earlier - this was without any re-attempt to install it manually (I saw no point as this approach had failed on 2 other machines) or doing anything to bitlocker or recovery partitions as per some of the solutions knocking about (all of which seem highly technical & way beyond the capabilities of most lay people).

    Hopeful that it had been fixed 'back end', I just tried on the other 3 it failed on. No go.... same error code 0x80070643 on those (all of which are all HP 10th gen machines, though I doubt that has anything to do with it, as the XPS is also a 10th gen & also has bitlocker enabled).

    I'll leave it to do like the Dell XPS & Just Work at some point, or wait until it is pulled & replaced by MS. Which they jolly better. The solutions offered don't seem to work for everyone.

    We have 6 windows 10 laptops in the house. The only 2 this installs on are the two laptops that do not qualify for Windows 11.

    The cynic in me does wonder if this if this is relevant....

    My failure is on a desktop PC that does not qualify for Windows 11. It is otherwise up to date on 22H2 through the 2024-01 Cumulative Update. Disk 0 is a 3 TB SATA drive for data files and a 256 GB SSD with a 534 MB Recovery Partition, 110 GB EFI Partition, and the Boot partition of 231.7 GB with 40 GB free space.

    I should add that the 534 MB Recovery Partition is 100% free. The SSD was replaced a few years back and an image of the EFI and Boot partitions were restored to the new SSD. So, I don't think I actually have a WinRE partition to update. It seems that this update is lacking...
