This is so typical of Microshaft to regard us as their testers and do inadequate testing before a release. It's a regression script, so it's all automatic, before someone talks about the work hours required. And, as usual, it's a nasty catch 22. You create recovery data...but handling the recovery data is the problem. And- accidentally on purpose- penalize those that won't accept the latest POS. People are reluctant to switch from 10 because it's one of the few releases that pretty much works. More of these "errors" will no doubt continue to happen the older the release gets.

I have Win10 on a laptop that came with it and it's useful to have a machine for the things that are only written for Windoze. My main system is Ubuntu Jammy Jellyfish and, I can tell you, you would never see this kind of problem with it. That's why MS has become the AOL of OS's. I don't fear hell; I worked over two decades as an MCSE. I wrote Calculator, Notepad and Paintbrush for Win1.1 and it has always been this way with them. The day they support dual booting with Linux I will change my tune. And give up FAT, SMTP and the other inefficient dinosaurs that never seem to die.

This is what worked for me.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-client/windows-security/disk-partition-requirement-use-windows-re-tool

My Windows RE partition was 508 MB but only had 86MB of free space, according to this article it should have  320 MB of free space. I used EaseUS Partition Master to increase the size of my partition to 800MB and now I've got 334,09MB of unused space on it. After that update went without any problems.

Edit: "For Windows operating systems later than Windows 10, version 2004 or Windows Server 2022, the partition must have at least 200 MB of free space."

I have the same problem (Windows 10 Home 64bit)

But my C:\ disk already has a recovery partition

    Partition ### Type Dim. Offset

    Partition 1 Primary 100 Mb 1024 Kb
    Partition 2 Primary 465 Gb 101 Mb
    Partition 3 Recovery 563 Mb 465 Gb

The only difference (with respect to the Article linked above) is that mine is 563 MB "type Recovery" while the article talks about a "primary" 250 MB big.

    So, what is missing?
