Windows 10 22h2 security update [KB5034441] fails to install with code: 0x80070643

When I wrote in my post that none of the procedures work, I was referring to the list in the first post, such as running SFC or DISM. I did not read through 5 pages of comments in order to learn if someone else had already suggested expanding the Recovery partition. I apologize for not doing that. I increased my partition to 1 GB and that was OK.

It will keep on failing until one of two things happen:

1. Microsoft withdraws the update and issues a new version that automatically generates a fresh WinRE partition for you (which is possible, they've done so in the past, but depending on how they implement it, there may be trade-offs in terms of wasted space, single points of failure if a power bump happens at exactly the wrong time, or the inability to cope with systems where "power users" decided to second-guess Microsoft and install their systems using a nonstandard partition layout), or else
2. You take matters into your own hands and manually enlarge the WinRE partition so that the update will fit.

Windows 10 Home can use Device Encryption. (And if your machine uses UEFI with Secure Boot and a supported TPM, and you register with Microsoft Account during the install, it does so by default/) This is essentially a subset of the standard Bitlocker features wrapped up in a different brand name. I think it's reasonable to believe that if Bitlocker is vulnerable then Device Encryption could be as well.

It's been a day, and Microsoft still has not acknowledged it seriously besides "disk partition". I even got contacted by Windows Support on twitter by three different employees in DMs, and one of them straight up said that there are no issues.

Are we screwed? probably or probably not, but I've been told by some people to ignore windows overly technical instructions to fix the issue by partitioning the disk. I've had some friends complain about KB5034441 to me multiple times about the 0x80070643 error.

However, I am receiving both the 0x80070643 error on KB5034441 and the 0x80073701 error for the cumulative Update (KB5034122) as seen here however it fails as a whole under the 0x80070643 error.

The forums right now are plagued with similar issues and still, microsoft still says "there are no issues with updates"

This is genuinely annoying because I never touched disk partitioning before and the fact microsoft still at the moment has not intervened or done anything, I don't think we should let our complaints die out.

I am the type who wants to get updates overwith and this is genuinely annoying.

I concur. I also have MULTIPLE machines running Without bitlocker, and every single one of them has failed to install. All display the error: 0X80070643

Update History shows multiple attempts/failures -- for THIS update -- but success for three others: (KB5033733) (KB5034275) and (KB5034122)

Security and Maintenance Reliability report <Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Security and Maintenance> also shows Success for the three above as well as the Failure for KB5034441 .. .. HOWEVER--> when I click 'View technical details' link in that report, I get the following:

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x8024200B: 2024-01 Security Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5034441).

NOTE: I have forced a new Download but still receive the error on this update (admittedly, working on the 'fix' for only ONE of my machines at this point - to limit the <removed>)
