The latest update downloads and then fails to install.
This is a brand new update. Is this a known issue? Is there a resolution specific to this update? (Please do not copy and paste standard procedure)

To be honest I'm just gonna wait till microsoft fixes it themselves. I ain't in a rush since I don't use bitlocker, but if you have read my post before this one you would know i'm kinda pissed off at microsoft. So it might work for other but right now i'm just gonna sit tight until microsoft fixes it themselves.
I ran into this issue with my home Windows 10 installation. I was able to use the procedure here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/kb5028997-instructions-to-manually-resize-your-partition-to-install-the-winre-update-400faa27-9343-461c-ada9-24c8229763bf to resize the partition.
However - when I got to Step 9 - the output of the "reagentc /info" command did not match the output of Step 2.
Original output:
Windows RE location: \?\GLOBALROOT\device\harddisk2\partition3\Recovery\WindowsRE
Subsequent output:
Windows RE location: \?\GLOBALROOT\device\harddisk2\partition2\Recovery\WindowsRE
Investigating further - I determined this was because my disk was a older drive using a Master Boot Record (MBR) partition table. After step 6 in the procedure, the quick format changed the ID from 27 (Windows Restore) to something like a 07 (Primary partition).
I needed to add an additional step - what I'm calling "5c"
5c. If your disk is MBR, run set id=27
Following the procedure now, the harddisk and partition numbers for Step 9 and Step 2 match - and I was able to complete the update successfully.
I don't know if this will help anyone else - and of course I can't guarantee anything for anyone who tries it - but it worked for me.
Rant ahead beware: I know right? We know that everytime someone says "these steps will work" it never works. Just remove the update microsoft it really that simple, or atleast remove it for home users and pro users that don't use bitlocker, then fix the update for bitlocker users. I'm done with this stupid update already I have windows 10 pro but it shouldn't be an automatic update for all pro users and especially not home users that can't even use bitlocker. I have seen people say microsoft staff say "theres nothing wrong" or "there is no issue with the update" and I'm just done with windows I swear if this happens again Mac's are gonna look more and more good.
NOPE! Have tried a few "sets of instructions" to the T and still no dice!
Don't worry this is easily solvable. Just follow the instructions and the update will install.

Just take your time and follow the instructions step by step. Copy paste is recommended to avoid typos.
Oh sure... it's easily solvable on a singe computer. When you have ~6,000 domain-joined workstations that are exhibiting the same problem, it becomes a little less easily solvable.
