Win11 Search and other apps typing issue

I have an issue where today (Jan 16,2024) in the taskbar search bar it either double types every character or doesn't at all. This is not just isolated to the search bar, when attempting to utilize any MS Win app feature that requires typing of any sort such as logging in to manage email accounts, Task Manager, Add or Remove Programs, etc. It all behaves the same way. I have tried many different options to include restarts, restarting the SearchBar, restarting Explorer, Uninstalling and Reinstalling my Keyboard and Mouse, changed the repeating character speed, etc. This doesn't happen in any other program which is evident in this question submission. I should add it also doesn't happen in MS Office software, or even when I go to Control Panel and test the repeating character text box. It's very odd that it specifically is happening to only certain features of which I use often. I'm not sure what else to try. I'd rather not have to clean wipe/clean install my OS to fix this issue.

    Same problem here. Search bar, Settings and other Windows functions give double characters. Same in Whatsapp but not in Chrome or Office.

    if you're using Windows 11 21H2, updates are no longer available for most editions since support ended in October 2023. Only the enterprise edition continues to receive updates. you need to update to Windows 11 22H2 using the windows update assistant, you can download it here Download Windows 11 (microsoft.com)

    John, I am in the same boat as everyone else, tried your options but don't work. I am currently Windows 11 21H2 but not showing any updates so can't work out how to update to 22H2 which seems to fix this from other comments in thread. Sharyn Bolitho

    Hi John

    I also have this problem and have had it since 17 Jan,

    The solution you have offered has no effect for me either - literally nothing happens, other than an annoyance when I first tried to cut and paste and found that Ctrl_V was also doubling, As was backpace when I tried to remove the second pasting. I am now quite annoyed!

    Do you have any other suggestions please?

    Appreciate you sharing the solution on this...I tried your recommended and it worked for me. This issue has been irritating me for the last couple of weeks. Nice to finally have it resolved after trying dozens of other recommendations. Thank you.
