How to install KB5034441: Windows Recovery Environment update for Windows 10, version 21H2 and 22H2: January 9, 2024

I tried to manually resize the partition by 250 MB per the instructions here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/kb5028997-instructions-to-manually-resize-your-partition-to-install-the-winre-update-400faa27-9343-461c-ada9-24c8229763bf#articleFooterSupportBridge=communityBridge

I had to exit Disk Part because I can not shrink the OS partition first:

    I went through the process for a GPT type partitioning, then reagentc cannot find the recovery partition -- I performed the procedure from the "delete partition step three times, with the same results

    At the end of all this, I tried to use command reagentc /setreimage /path but I couldn't get the right syntax to make it work

    I would reccomend people just wait for Microsoft to fix the issue instead of risking a very complicated proceadure which may damage your computer. Microsoft cannot legally just decide to destroy products they have sold to customers.

    Matthew, It's too late, I already deleted the recovery partition. I was performing this procedure because the microsoft update for windows RE failed on three computers, due to increased recovery partition size requirements.

    The first computer i performed this procedure on worked fine -- it is MBR. The new RE update installed.

    The second computer failed to recognize the new RE partition, even though diskmanager sees "healthy" recovery partition now. Reagentc does not know its location.

    I tried to use reagentc /setreimage but I cant get the syntax correct, even with microsoft learn help (usage examples no help for separate partition).

    The update is not a big of a deal, I suggest you leave it alone, many users have had this problem soo it isnt that urgent to download this update. People ended up destroying there pcs messing with the recovery partition unfortunately.
