How to install KB5034441: Windows Recovery Environment update for Windows 10, version 21H2 and 22H2: January 9, 2024

I tried to manually resize the partition by 250 MB per the instructions here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/kb5028997-instructions-to-manually-resize-your-partition-to-install-the-winre-update-400faa27-9343-461c-ada9-24c8229763bf#articleFooterSupportBridge=communityBridge

I had to exit Disk Part because I can not shrink the OS partition first:

    Thank you mdpeel for taking the time to share a possible fix to my issue. However, I was lucky enough to have had Ramesh Srinivasa provide me with a solution that fully resolved my issue!

    Try the following site with the fix that user "that__guy" posted. It worked for me with rebuilding the recovery partition. You will need to download a windows insider ISO file and mount it as your E drive.

    UPDATE:

    I downloaded the Win 10 ISO file, extracted the requir3d fil and converted it to a .wim file. Now, how do I copy it to my new recovery partition? I cannot find a way to mount it and make it visible to the copy command.

    ** Where do I find the "wim" file? Then, what do I do with it?

    I have the same problem on Windows 10.

    The windows recovery update failed. I followed the recommended procedure to fix the problem.

    I shrank the boot partition, deleted the recovery partition, created a new recovery partion, formatted it NTFS, and marked it "Windows RE tools".

    REAGENTC cannot find the new recovery partition.

    Windows DISKMANAGEMENT GUI sees it and reports "healthy partition".

    REAGENTC /INFO shows no location for the recovery partition, as in the previous user's screen shot.

    I tried us8ng REAGENTC /SETREIMAGE /PATH \?\GLOBALROOT\HARDDISK0\PARTITION4\RECOVERY\WINDOWSRE, but I cannot get the path syntax correct. The MSLearn article only explains how to point to a recovery file, not to a partition.

    I checked and the reason for this update installation failure is that the recovery partition (WinRE) is not enough space. The size of this recovery partition is the partition made by the installer, and Microsoft has no points in mind? Isn't it a bit embarrassing to let the average user change the size of the recovery partition to install this update, and are not computer professionals?

    Manually update WinRE, I have done it, the update is successful, but when I check the update, kb5034441 will still appear, the installation is successful, and kb5034441 will appear when I check it again...

    This problem can be solved, as long as the partition where the C drive Windows is located, the WinRE update is packaged into the wim file, and then copied to the WinRE partition, there will be no lack of space, please feedback to the technical department.

    After successfully performing this procedure on one computer, I have already deleted the recovery partition on a second one.

    This procedure fails AFTER deleting the (too small) recovery partition.

    I followed the steps to create a new (250 MB bigger) recovery partition, format it, and mark it for recovery, but the REAGENTC utility fails to recognize it.

    The windows diskmanager GUI does see it, and reports it is "healthy". But it will not function as a recovery partition, and the windiws update will not install.

    I researched the REAGENTC utility on Microsoft learn -- it APPEARS that I should be able to identify my recovery partition using the /setreimage command, but I cannot determine the correct syntax to point to disk0 part4. MSLearn does a poor job of the syntax; it explains how to point to a recovery file, but not a partition.
