Windows Update failure for January 2024

Now that's a surprise. I too, had a circle in the middle of my screen at 5%. I almost shut down my machine clicking the power button BUT is said don't turn off your machine! It took 45 minutes later (because I was scared to turn it off and even called my IT guy). I guess I got lucky. Don't remember exactly if it restarted and sat there forever, but the ..KB5034203 shows installed on mine. I had to dump OPERA a long time ago when they "enhanced" way to big and now EDGE is losing the ability to keep up with their own features. Did you get the notice that Window 10 Home & Pro will not be supported after October 2025? I keep giving "feedback" in "Settings" but gonna just have to wait on them. I will try to remember J Mag. I'll wait and write if I see any fixes.

Hey there! I appreciate you jumping in on this matter. Most of the day I tried to do the update KB5034203 and it failed to install. I am running windows 10 22H2 as well. It has to be a problem with Microsoft as now it is two updates it fails to install in the last week or so. KB5034122 and KB5034203. My computer is working fine otherwise and no known problems. Ran the troubleshooter and it could find no issues also. Let's stay in touch and as time progresses let's hope Microsoft has a fix as many people cannot complete updates for Jan of 2024. Sorry to butt in. Similar problems with KB5034203. Also, have EDGE 32 processes running according to my Task Manager. I don't think these people have it figured out yet. (Windows 10 HOME 22H2). :(

Yeah I get that "Don't turn off your computer" message too and it never goes away so I have to hard shut down the computer. Now there is a new update going on as we speak. We'll see if this was the replacement for the one that would not update from Microsoft. It is KB5034203. It is downloading and is at 5% for a while now. I'll type a message on this thread after it finishes with my result.

22 Jan update

Left the 'Configuring Windows. Do not turn off your computer ' on screen for almost an hour. Then turned it off.

On restarting, it flashed up 35% complete, then 100% complete before Restarting appeared. As it restarted through POST, noticed it dropping down to DOS with a "System Updating 100% complete" message. After that I was able to login normally.
