I have been having this error for a long time now, it keeps saying "retry"after i click on it. Anyone know how to fix it?

I googled the actual KB and found this link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/topic/kb5034441-windows-recovery-environment-update-for-windows-10-version-21h2-and-22h2-january-9-2024-62c04204-aaa5-4fee-a02a-2fdea17075a8. It seems that it updates the Windows Recovery (WinRE) environment, and the tip about resizing the partition for that is valid. You can find the link to the instructions in the KB article I linked.
I did that and the installation passed.
At the bare min. Microsoft should have immediately pulled this update once it became obvious users were having issues with it.
Like so many others here, I am getting the same error when I try to run the newly released update for Win10 (the first Windows update in January 2024, that is). It seemed to download correctly, but every time I run it, it fails and asks me to "Retry" the installation (which never works).
I run Win11 on my Surface Book, and while this newest update failed my first attempt to update it as well, clicking the "retry" button worked and the update is installed on that computer now (but it did have problems at first)
I have not encountered an update problem for quite some time now (for which I am thankful :)), but it would be nice to have a work-around or another update to fix this newest update release so that it can finally be installed.
So, Microsoft, thank you for your help with that :)

Excellent! Thanks for the video and/or the link. I had tried the KB5028997 process but suffered from a lack of understanding and it didn't work. The walkthrough in the video (jump to 42:14) gave me the missing info to complete the process and that pesky update finally installed.
The key part I was missing from the 'KB5028997: Instructions to manually resize your partition to install the WinRE update' was, shrink (shrink desired=250 minimum=250) from the Primary partition (partition 3) and then delete (delete partition override) the Recovery partition (partition 4). Creating and formatting the new partition was simple enough.

Thank you! This fixed my problem with KB5034441. However, when I went to run reagentc /enable on step 8, I got an error message about a missing recovery environment. The fix was to use 7zip to browse the Windows 10 install ISO to \sources\install.wim, then extract and open the install.wim in 7zip. Then browse inside install.wim to \1\windows\system32\recovery\ and extract the Winre.wim file. Then copy the Winre.wim file to my \Windows\system32\recovery directory. Then I was able to successfully run reagentc /enable.
