I have been having this error for a long time now, it keeps saying "retry"after i click on it. Anyone know how to fix it?

I googled the actual KB and found this link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/topic/kb5034441-windows-recovery-environment-update-for-windows-10-version-21h2-and-22h2-january-9-2024-62c04204-aaa5-4fee-a02a-2fdea17075a8. It seems that it updates the Windows Recovery (WinRE) environment, and the tip about resizing the partition for that is valid. You can find the link to the instructions in the KB article I linked.
I did that and the installation passed.
Do you use your computer while it's installing updates? If yes, try again with antivirus deactivated, but then without using the computer. I know, Microsoft says you can use it, but it's best to let it install updates without using.
Thanks for the remainder, but no, I don't use my PC when installing software, whether apps or Windows updates.
OK... Have you emptied the Download-folder in SoftwareDistribution, in Windows? I also empties other Temp-folders now and then.
After looking at a different thread on this community board, I found a useful thing to do. Yesterday, after a chat with support it was recommended to pause updates until such time as a fix was ready, but seeing as no-one seems to know how long Microsoft will take to find a fix or release a new update to correct the problem, I searched elsewhere for an answer.
In a thread titled Windows 10 22h2 security update {KB5034441] fails to install with code: 0x80070643, started by IbrahimKonuk on January 9th 2024, I read with interest that several people had suggested a tool which Microsoft have so that you can hide specific updates if you don't want them to install on your machine. The link is provided by someone called NumskyHusky and can be found on page 10 of the thread. I downloaded the tool using the link provided and by following what it asked me to do the update causing issues has now gone and now when I check my Windows Update it says that I am up to date. I know this is not a permanent fix, but it sorts out the issue while Microsoft sort themselves out and I did not want to go down the route of messing about with my PC when I'm not sure what I am doing.

After downloading the link to your PC, and opening it, click on Next to take you to the second page of it. Once you've clicked on Next the tool checks for any issues it can detect. Then click on Hide Updates and Next and the tool will hide the update causing issues. It will show you this screen (see below) to show it has hidden the update. Once completed, open Windows Update and check to see if you to see the up to date message. If you do, problem solved until a fix is available! Hope this helps.
I do wish to thank NumskyHusky for the help given, as he/she has saved me from having to pause Windows Update and thus making my PC unsafe.
