I googled the actual KB and found this link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/topic/kb5034441-windows-recovery-environment-update-for-windows-10-version-21h2-and-22h2-january-9-2024-62c04204-aaa5-4fee-a02a-2fdea17075a8. It seems that it updates the Windows Recovery (WinRE) environment, and the tip about resizing the partition for that is valid. You can find the link to the instructions in the KB article I linked.

I did that and the installation passed.

@XNghia Huynh Your situation is the Recovery partition should be just behind the C Partition. Windows can change the size of the partition if it is able to use space from the C partition to do that. If the partition is just behind C the operation can proceed, assuming there is enough free space in C.

    Dansk:

Der er noget med en gendannelsespartition, som skal ændres i størrelse. Dette burde opdateringen have gjort automatisk.

    English:

It's something about a recovery-partition, which has to be changed in size The update SHOULD have done this automatically. There's programs where you can do it your self, and then try the update again - but please save any documents, photos and other you may have on your computer, onto an external harddisk!!! If now somethig go wrong when changing the size of the partition.

I will recommend to wait to Microsoft sends a new, error-free update. That's more secure than fiddling around with partitions. As you can see, everyone has this problem

    I'm on Windows 10 FYI

This recent update causing my GPU driver crashing, fan speed going 100% for no reason. I had to repair framework. I had to use sfc /scannow command and framework repair tool smdh. I suggest doing all that first before doing below:

Guys, try installing free edition of easeus partition master to easily "move" the recovery partition using drag and drop feature to add the size. Click on recovery partition and click resize option. The software won't apply instantly once you arranged it, so you can change your mind before click second confirmation. So make sure using scandisk health check before doing this.

My recovery partition were about 500mb with 88mb free iirc. I added 250mb. Fix it so far. Arrow on attached pic showed my recovery partition location. Just click on it to adjust.Image

Luckily my SSD has space for provisioning so the process was easy.

If your recovery partition happen to be next to main partition, you can easily use this software with slider interface. Provided your main C drive has enough space, it will shrink to add rec partition needed. Iirc the process need restarting at first so the software can fix it before booting. Remember not to have any power failure during the process lol.

After repartition process, start again the update.
