I have been having this error for a long time now, it keeps saying "retry"after i click on it. Anyone know how to fix it?

I googled the actual KB and found this link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/topic/kb5034441-windows-recovery-environment-update-for-windows-10-version-21h2-and-22h2-january-9-2024-62c04204-aaa5-4fee-a02a-2fdea17075a8. It seems that it updates the Windows Recovery (WinRE) environment, and the tip about resizing the partition for that is valid. You can find the link to the instructions in the KB article I linked.
I did that and the installation passed.
Same problem here.
The "fix" is not a fix it you literally have to mess with the partition to get an update to install.
I can't even begin to imagine what genius thought to propose to the average user "Update not installing? No problem! Just run:/format_MBR_partition_delete_shrink and voila - you just ruined your PC. You're welcome!"
Now I have to figure out how to free space from my drive, 'cause the damned update ate almost all of it.
I'm having the same issue. All other updates installed fine but this one. The fixes they say to try makes it seem like you need to have fairly decent IT knowledge (I don't really) so thats not very fair. All my programs run fine as always plus windows defender says everything is working normally, nor are there any corrupt files. MS really needs to get their sh*t together in regards to these updates.
Fair warning to anyone trying to follow Microsoft's "Advised solution" of messing with your partitions that it can just straight up cause your recovery partition to loose a necessary .wim file which will then, unless you then have a windows machine on the same update version from which you can harvest the .wim file, make it so that you're unable to reinitialize the windows recovery feature at all.
Not only that but even if you then just delete your recovery partition the update will still continue to fail.
If this happens it seems that your only recourse for getting a working recovery partition back is to literally wipe your drive and reinstall windows.
I personally spent all of yesterday dealing with this and dealing with trying to get a matching wim file with no luck.
So, thanks so much Microsoft. I sure enjoy you erasing hours of work while I'm asleep then destroying multiple days worth of my time because you can't configure your updates properly.
Having same issue. No one should be telling people to resize Recovery or even play with it. This is a big problem when Microsoft expect users to help users. You think shrinking Partitions and that is going to fix this? No Microsoft if your going to force updates on us, then you better make sure they tried and tested. You got 48 hours to issue a fix or you pay for my PC. I am sick of Updates not being tested and pushed out. People pay thousands for PC's they shouldn't have to be playing around and doing Microsoft work. Wouldn't mind I never asked for this Update, now my computer keeps telling me there is an issue and keeps popping up. And Troubleshooting is also messed up. Get it fixed.
