Security Update KB5034441 for Windows 10 Ver. 22H2 will not install.

Thank you so much Microsoft as you have started the New Year off with bang with this update failure below on the first patch Tuesday of the year:

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x8024200B: 2024-01 Security Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5034441).

Tried multiple times to install this brick but no luck on my OMEN desktop and my wife's Envy laptop. So now what Microsoft?

    So incredibly bogus that Microsoft hasn't released an automated fix for this. You have to do it manually. Fortunately, Dropzone produced this step-by-step YouTube video explaining how to resize your recovery partition: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41DkQS1RDso

    Worked like a charm for me!

    right... as far as I know Microsoft has yet to supply an integrated fix, but they did supply the instruction that your Youtube video supplies. I didn't see an acknowledgement that this video is nothing more than a video of Microsoft's published fix. Otherwise, I wouldn't trust or rely on a public web site's veracity.

    Further this fix won't work when the Recovery partition is not the last partition. It works when the partition is last where it can be enlarged to the needed size. I've got at least one example where the Recovery partition is the second partition on the system drive, and there isn't sufficient space to make the partition any larger. I did manage to manipulate the partitions on this drive so there is sufficient space but this is a bit more effort than when the partition is the last one. This particular issue would likely interfere with an "automatic" fix.

    What's more is that I'm not sure how one drive wound up with its Recovery partition in a different order than my other systems, nor can I estimate how many other systems are similarly "misordered". My best guess is that my systems have multiple boot drives that are supposed to be independent of each other. One would be a self-contained Windows 10 Pro system and another -would be a self-contained Ubuntu v22.04 system.

    The update appears to have completely vanished off my history (it was a spam of "failed to install" and no longer appears on windows update for me, did it get patched?

    Sorry, I bumped against this buggy installer only last week. You know this patch only applies to Windows 10 Pro and is not needed by Windows 10 Home nor by Windows 11?.

    I wound up doing a Windows 10 Pro reinstall on a desktop that already had this problem resolved, but the re-installation produced a too small Recovery partition (original Windows 10 release size).
