Security Update KB5034441 for Windows 10 Ver. 22H2 will not install.

Thank you so much Microsoft as you have started the New Year off with bang with this update failure below on the first patch Tuesday of the year:

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x8024200B: 2024-01 Security Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5034441).

Tried multiple times to install this brick but no luck on my OMEN desktop and my wife's Envy laptop. So now what Microsoft?

    The trouble shooter found nothing and it won't let me install a keyboard update in the process.

    I have not yet heard a word from Microsoft on this issue. Maybe last week's Russian hack of Microsoft's own e-mails has them gun shy this week? Kind of clouds their own approach to forcing users to use their cloud?

    1/22/2024....Another chat today, and this Tech still wants to put up through the hoops of resizing our Desk space, which is highly technical....Ugh!!

    Sorry MSFT is putting you through the wringer. They might be able to produce something more user friendly if they were to write a power shell script. You might try to get the first level tech support person to escalate the issue to someone who has the necessary knowhow to work this issue.

    While I have working experience writing command prompt batch files and with Linux scripts, I don't have similar experience with Power Shell. When there aren't available commands/options, the underlying system functions are usable from a power shell. The challenge for me is identifying which of these functions could be used for this.

    I was investigating the recovery partition allocation issue yesterday by attempting to install to a blank drive. The installer had to allocate the partitions and it managed to put the recovery partition as the first one on the drive. But the instructions for fixing the patch assume this partition is the last partition on the disk. There's no capability provided here to either enlarge this partition to the size needed for the patch or to move the recovery partition from first to last. I have another idea about how to get a suitable sized position into place, but at the moment I'm still trying to do this with a blank disk and a new Windows 10 install. Probably most users would rather not have to do a from scratch install.

    Since the patch pertains to security, you might try reporting this problem to Microsoft Security instead of the default windows support group.
