Security Update KB5034441 for Windows 10 Ver. 22H2 will not install.

This is infuriating. Just came here to say that.

Same here. Nothing works for me. Wonder if microsoft is even addressing this problem. I just paused the updates for another week.

Thanks for the feedback, but I've tried everything, and it still will not download......I guess I have no choice but to wait on Microsoft to fix their problem.

OK, I got bit by this on or about 01/17, and there is no obvious trunk of this chat tree where my post will be best seen, so I'm replying to the OP and tagging Ant Dude.

After a successful 01/09 Windows Update, on 01/17 WU was saying this for a long time:

"2024-01 Security Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5034441)

Status: Installing - 0%"

After which it eventually said

"Error encountered

There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x80070643)"

Security update? Well maybe it's arguing with my local security, so I shut that down but still got the error.

One post here linked a Microsoft article on resizing one's WinRE partition using arcane commandline wizardry so, what the hell, I used MiniTool Partition Wizard (which graphically lets you see what you're doing in your choice of G/Mbytes with leading and trailing block settings, and automagically moves files so you don't have to destroy and recreate them) to expand the WinRE partition.

BUT, another post here said code 0x80070643 is a download error, AND a post by EliseM_456 recommended using the Windows Update Troubleshooter (immediately poo-pooed by another member). So I ran that because it can't hurt and, after a long time watching a blue bar sweep across its window to assure me that it was doing important things, I responded to a couple of emails, made spaghetti for breakfast, then found the TS had completed and fixed some fuzzily disclosed issue with BITS.

Checking back with Windows Update, it (did its best imitation of a beaming smile and) said

"You're up to date

Last checked: Today 10:37

[Check for updates]"

What? I didn't rerun the update yet. So, checking View Update History, I see

"2024-01 Security Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based systems (KB5034441)

Successfully installed on 2024/01/17"

Now I have questions. Did WU sneakily rerun that update in some mysterious synchrony with the Troubleshooter? Or was that update actually already in place / installed, but couldn't recognize itself in subsequent installation attempts? But at this point, my questions don't matter.

i have since changed to windows 11. so far so good
