Security Update KB5034441 for Windows 10 Ver. 22H2 will not install.

Thank you so much Microsoft as you have started the New Year off with bang with this update failure below on the first patch Tuesday of the year:

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x8024200B: 2024-01 Security Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5034441).

Tried multiple times to install this brick but no luck on my OMEN desktop and my wife's Envy laptop. So now what Microsoft?

    Good Morning everyone! I work for a small local MSP and we had multiple devices with this issue as well and I do believe I have found a solution. So far, the only correlation between the devices I have found is that they can't be upgraded to Windows 11. Whether this has any bearing on the issue, I have no idea, it's just something I noticed. Anyway, the solution I have found is this:

    Download and install the Windows Media Creation Tool for windows 10. Here is the link to that tool. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

    Click on the Create Windows 10 installation media Download Now button.

    Once you have it on your device you'll run the program and do an "upgrade" which is basically like reinstalling windows 10 while keeping all of your apps and files. Once the "upgrade" has finished I was able to run all needed updates including the above mentioned security patch. There have been a few cases so far where it said it "failed" but, once I did a "retry" it worked for me without an issue.

    I did see that there is a way a few have posted with cmd line which I do believe works, however I thought this would be good for a standard user to do who might not be as savy with tech.

    How about this, do an update on your personal pc, wait for the error to arrive. DO the steps that you are telling us to do and see what happens, Its a waste of time.

    Nope. Troubleshooter was a waste of time in this case. As to the 0x search suggestion, that process is far too complex (and tedious) for a now unskilled tech user like me. I shall wait until MS can repair the update so that its replacement makes the fixes they want me to make.

    Far out folks the family has 3 PCs, the Windows 11 updates were broken for December and January - in place reinstall was necessary. Yuk.

    Then this security update was broken on the two Windows 10 machines. Money I can't afford goes into my licences, and I do expect (against reality, often), my padding the revenue to issue in benefits to me!
