How to stop the ms-gamingoverlay popup

Essentially I havethis exact same problem just on windows 11 it pops up every time I open a game, the solution in that article doesn't work for me.

THANK YOUUU this killed the annoying nuisance.

Dear Microsoft,

If you keep trying to data mine my games with any more obvious or hidden nuisances, I am LEAVING Steam.

I will sell the damned account. With a fair warning.

Don't listen to Google. We buried Stadia.

Wow!

I could not agree more with that sentiment.

Makes no sense to have Xbox **** all over and in our PC's.

KEEP Xbox games on Xbox AND PC games on PC. Its literally that simple.whoever thought it would be a good idea to try to merge the 2 platforms needs their head examined.

Still dont have a solution to getting rid of Xbox from our Windows 11 PC.

It will be a new year in about 2 hours and my new years resolution is to leave windows for good. fingers crossed.

THIS GAME Bar IS ALSO bad news for games that crashes because of overlays .

i turned it all off we dont need any of it its pointless i ran these , and i turned off gamebar and game optimise , there is no need for it bill gates what are you doing

please dont add overlays to games when you have no idea how to create games

Fromreddit, it worked for me.

To resolve this you can also use the powershell to edit the registry like this:

reg add HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\GameDVR /f /t REG_DWORD /v "AppCaptureEnabled" /d 0 reg add HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\GameConfigStore /f /t REG_DWORD /v "GameDVR_Enabled" /d 0

This disables the game recorder software which seems to still think that the gaming overlay is still present.
This was the solution to my problems, thank you Sir, have a good one :)
