Windows update (KB5034441) Error (0x80070643)

When I tried to install the windows update "2024-01 Security Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5034441)" I received the error code (0x80070643).

I have already tried, restarting my computer, waiting a bit before retrying, running a memory diagnostic check, checking all my drivers for updates, installing optional updates, and running a malware scan.

When I tried to run the windows update troubleshooter it said "diagnosing problems" but never fixed them and I was still unable to install the update after running the trouble shooter.

Any help would be appreciated.

    I could not complete a delete and re-create of this partition as it is part of my boot drive and the command "delete partition override" is not allowed, will not work. So to do this would require a boot off the System Drive to a CD or USB. I will try that perhaps. Would like to see Microsoft fix this as I have three computers that have the same problem. I could try a ESD reformat to see if this might work. If the Recovery Partition just is recreated to the same size, the same problem will be there. I will get a Boot Disk and try to get around the MS issue with changing the Win Boot Drive.

    I resized my partition and it didn't work. It's good that it worked for you.

    That's all users here can suggest. Microsoft published a possible fix to increase the size of the recovery partition.

    An issue with Update (KB5034441)

    Microsoft needs to fix the update and re-release it so that thew update can decrease C: Drive by 250MB, delete the Recovery partition and re-create the Recovery partition with a larger size to allow the update to be successsful.

    I had this on one machine. It had had an HDD replacement some time back and then the old image copied back onto the new larger disk. This meant there was lots of free space and so I followed the MS instructions and removed (from memory) a 250Mb recovery partition and added 1Gb. The update did then run ... but only used a fraction of the space ... meaning there was WAY more space than necessary on the original partition. Further, the new recovery partition now shows in Win Explorer rather than being hidden. So yes it worked, but no, it seems entirely unnecessary as the extra space granted wasn't necessary.

    Now have this on another machine. This doesn't have a lot of unallocated space and so it will require shrinking a live partition to repeat what I did before. Not sure I really want to go playing with that. Seems there's a problem with the update in demanding space it then doesn't use.
