Windows update (KB5034441) Error (0x80070643)

When I tried to install the windows update "2024-01 Security Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5034441)" I received the error code (0x80070643).

I have already tried, restarting my computer, waiting a bit before retrying, running a memory diagnostic check, checking all my drivers for updates, installing optional updates, and running a malware scan.

When I tried to run the windows update troubleshooter it said "diagnosing problems" but never fixed them and I was still unable to install the update after running the trouble shooter.

Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello Jeff W5

    Hello Ognyan Karatabanov

That's right, I reported this on the thread where the solution I recommend was explained in detail, here:

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/update-kb5034441-fails-to-install/1b127728-67ce-4206-8978-b3b0e38044a8?page=46

The automatic, easy and risk-free solution that I recommend for users who do not have great knowledge because the data given by Microsoft presents great risks is the one which consists of carrying out a "Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade":

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/16397-repair-install-windows-10-place-upgrade.html

but in point 9 of the tutorial, you must check the box "Download updates, drivers and optional features".

And once Windows update is completely up to date (automatic installation of KB5037768 released today and transition to buid 19045.4412.) Windows update will automatically download and install the KB5034441 update.

Otherwise, if you don't use Bitlocker, simply hide this update with the Microsoft tool "Wushowhide":

Based on some recent replies, Microsoft says that there will not be an automatic fix by them.

A relatively “simple” solution to the problems caused by the update KB 5034441 which worked for me (see tutorial below)

Having used a copy of a recent Windows 10 installation, downloaded from Microsoft onto a USB, I carried out a “Repair Install Windows 10 with In-place Upgrade” which kept all of my files, apps and settings and then updated and installed KB 5034441 without the need to use Command Prompt, resize partitions, or do anything further. I am neither technically knowledgeable or that competent, so for further information please address any questions to ZEKRI Abdelhafid who’s method this is.

    Hello Lelivienne

    Hello Deepak Grover1

    Hello everyone

Knowing that Microsoft has confirmed that there will be no other automatic solution to resolve this problem, the best solution for users without sufficient knowledge is to apply the automatic, easy and risk-free solution (not known by Microsoft) that I have indicated on this present thread in my message of May 9, 2024.

To do this, simply perform a Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade :

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/16397-repair-install-windows-10-place-upgrade.html

See the message from Peter Marsh1 from May 12, 2024 on the indicated thread:

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/update-kb5034441-fails-to-install/1b127728-67ce-4206-8978-b3b0e38044a8?page=44

    Important :

Peter Marsh1 had a problem completing this update without success the first time but the second attempt was successful, that's why there was a litigation in the procedure but I categorically maintain that it is essential to check the point 9 of the tutorial the box “Download updates, drivers and “optional features” contrary to what is recommended in this tutorial, i.e. leave the box checked (this is what is selected by default), like this :

Once the Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade is complete, and Windows Update is updated, the KB5034441 update will be installed automatically.
