I have the same problem over the past week or so. Checked all of the region settings, nothing wrong.
Cleaned out the system with "BleachBit", ran Norton, all to no avail.
What are Microsoft doing about it???

The screen before I put my PIN in (I don't know if that is the lock screen or called something else) has suddenly started to use Chinese traditional language. I have checked and updated the region in control panel and copied the settings to lock screen and even ticked the new use box, as suggested by other solutions. I've rebooted several times but it still comes back as Chinese. When I click on the area that (I assume is saying) I want more information on the screen, it opens up MSN page with Chinese stories and information. How do I change the settings to show English text again?
Why has this happened? I have not changed any settings in my system prior to now.
I also can't get a screenshot because as soon as I touch a key the PIN request screen comes up replacing the screen with the Chinese characters in it.

I have this problem since the 30th. Im wondering if ive been hacked. I dont think so. It is very weird and concerning and microsoft should do something about it.
I dont like the begin screens anyway. As ive paid for my windows and my PC. I dont want to have more ads on it when i start it up. I find that disrespectfull to the user and customer. I already paid you. Stop begging for more money.
My guess what is happening here. I watch anime. Asian stuff. With english subs of course. But maybe Microsoft detects that in some way. and things. Hey lets switch language and give this person ads in chinese or japanese. Because clearly he is from there if he watches these programs.
Chinese letters also in Slovakia, it must be definitely bug from last update...
Same travelling across Europe at the moment. Very disturbing. No language pack or regional settings associate with China or anything similar.
I think this has to be a bug because this happened to me on a fresh installation of windows (Linux was installed prior).
Also, dense amounts of people seem to have this problem in January/February 2024. Most likely a bug.
