Chinese characters on the first screen after switch on

The screen before I put my PIN in (I don't know if that is the lock screen or called something else) has suddenly started to use Chinese traditional language. I have checked and updated the region in control panel and copied the settings to lock screen and even ticked the new use box, as suggested by other solutions. I've rebooted several times but it still comes back as Chinese. When I click on the area that (I assume is saying) I want more information on the screen, it opens up MSN page with Chinese stories and information. How do I change the settings to show English text again?

Why has this happened? I have not changed any settings in my system prior to now.

I also can't get a screenshot because as soon as I touch a key the PIN request screen comes up replacing the screen with the Chinese characters in it.

My problem was not just related to language settings. Looks to me like it was a bug in some piece of basically unrelated code.

I have this issue and have tried every suggestion made but it still persists. What is Microsoft doing to get this fixed. Are there any other suggested remedies?

I'm having the same issue. Chinese letters in lock screen. And a full Microsoft page feed. Haven't had any Microsoft updates that I know prior to this happening... really weird. I don't even have Chinese as a language in my computer, only Spanish and English.

    Here is the fix.

I followed all of the suggestions with no luck.

The issue is in the language settings of your internet browser.

If you click on the chinese writing it opens up a browser, in that browser go into the browser settings and change the language. You will not be able to read any of what are in the settings,, I got lucky and could see a dropdown menu for languages and when I clicked on it all of the languages were in the menu and I could read the English option. When I selected it the browser changed to English and the problem has been solved for me.

The chinese would only show up in the one browser opened from the lock screen and now it is in English, no more issue.
