I am running Windows 10 Home 2004 (Build 19041.450). Windows Update notified me that there was a cumulative update available to install (2020-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 2004 for x64-based Systems (KB4571756)). When I told it to install the update, it will download and go up to "Installing - 100%" and then just show this error: I've tried the following in an attempt to fix the error: Run "sfc /scannow" in an elevated command prompt Run "DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:<Source of clean Windows 10 2004 ISO created using Windows Media Creation Tool> /LimitAccess" in an elevated command prompt Uninstall and reinstall NET framework 3.5 from "Turn Windows features on or off" in Control Panel Manually download the specific update from the Microsoft Update Catalog and install it Stop the Windows Update service and delete the Windows Update cache located in "%SystemRoot%\SoftwareDistrubution", then restart the service Obviously, none of these worked so I'm looking for any other solutions to this problem. Any help is appreciated.

It is same ISO I used to install win10 on my new built system, if "already comes with the September patch pre installed" then why was it offered in updates and failed?

Your ISO may have been an older version but when you run setup.exe and say check for updates, it patches the ISO with the new updates. You may have installed the older version on your new build.

I just down loaded it using media creation tool this past Friday after I built my system. I had 1909 install on my old system and 2004 just didn't run very well, so with new build I downloaded 2004 and installed it.

Well ideally it's not likely that the september patch was included in the ISO and still you weren't on the latest OS build after installation. Something might have gone wrong during the installation.

So now my ISO file has been update with new Sep patch correct? Or would I need to slipstream that update into ISO I downloaded Friday? If so I am going to make fresh boot disk with my USB hdd for installing on other customers system so I can avoid this mess/headache next time?
