Cumulative update won't install (KB4571756) (Error 0x800f081f)

So what else can we do right now? Do we have to wait until this annoying problem solved or let the update stuck like this, in the previous version (KB4571756)? I can't do anything but wait, hoping that there might be some good news. I am wondering whether I should go for the media creation tool right now since I've attempted to solve this problem for 2 months, and it seems that all solutions provided by Microsoft can't get rid of this problem. 

P.S. Two error codes I've received are 0x8024200d ( happened when I install the latest update manually) and 0x800f081f.

This scares the hell out of me. Until now I have a perfectly running system for about 2 years and 6 Months. This is beyond ridiculous that I will have to install Windows 10 from scratch and spend days to reinstall everything as it runs today.

It all started with KB4566782 around August patch Tuesday and as you can see updates are still failing after September and October patch Tuesday.

Since the next feature update is around the corner ( 20H2 ) , I will just sit this out and attempt the in place upgrade after 20H2 is released for a few weeks.

My strong feeling reading all events in this thread is that Microsoft does not care about Windows 10 and Windows 10 customers anymore. Anyone jumped to Linux or Mac ?

PS. I did all the magic advised in this thread ( except media creation ) , but no avail.

So I was having the same issue and solved it by doing an in-place upgrade with a USB drive created using the MediaCreationTool2004

I had been reluctant to go that route because I was afraid to lose my data like with a reset, but in the end I gave it a shot and -hooray- this solved the issue for me. Took quite a while until everything was finished, also because of subsequently available updates, which had to be installed after the "big" update was done, but now my system is up to date. No more errors, and all my files and settings are still there.

I have this same problem  myself  I had  done the media creation took process and every other process thats been listed to sort it. I also had the nvidia geforce gtx970 vga card device drivers completely erased from  the system from the windows repair tried to fix it.

I got a Microsoft assistant to go through and try trouble shooting the system  via remote assistant.  I told him that the computer will not install or load up when i ran the update installation  multiple times. 

He said he would try finding the issue why none of the original os drivers kept failing to install  after windows update  crashed  on install and completely wiped my  systems manufacturers files  . 

After he remote assisted  and ran the 2004 install recovery  software  i had been told  to install  . And run  now had made bios issues now i can even boot up any hard of my harddrives to get back to windows at all.

I now have lost a perfectly fine operating system  i use daily....

Yeah, I definitely agree.  MS rolls out these horrendous updates that can leave your PC inoperable for weeks or months.  I thought they said they wanted everyone on Windows 10 so that they wouldn't have these issues. It seems to me that every time they update, new problems are introduced. Sometimes with grave consequences, and they get away scotch free of any blame.  That's the Bill Gates formula for you.
