I am running Windows 10 Home 2004 (Build 19041.450). Windows Update notified me that there was a cumulative update available to install (2020-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 2004 for x64-based Systems (KB4571756)). When I told it to install the update, it will download and go up to "Installing - 100%" and then just show this error: I've tried the following in an attempt to fix the error: Run "sfc /scannow" in an elevated command prompt Run "DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:<Source of clean Windows 10 2004 ISO created using Windows Media Creation Tool> /LimitAccess" in an elevated command prompt Uninstall and reinstall NET framework 3.5 from "Turn Windows features on or off" in Control Panel Manually download the specific update from the Microsoft Update Catalog and install it Stop the Windows Update service and delete the Windows Update cache located in "%SystemRoot%\SoftwareDistrubution", then restart the service Obviously, none of these worked so I'm looking for any other solutions to this problem. Any help is appreciated.

Add me, another one to this massive list of unsatisfied customers, cumulative have always been a problem on windows10, bring back windowsXP for gods sake, this os is a proper mess.

None of the steps in these threads have worked nor will work.The update is mainly X Box related and many of us just don't have that hooked up to their Win/10 system.Some of the updates ARE installed but other s are not and will not because of that.Unfortunately Microsoft has not created this update with the capacity to disappear after it has unloaded some of it's cargo.It is continuing to be a pest and hanging around seemingly for ever. One can only hope some bright light at M/S finally gets wise and finally fixes this glitch,sooner rather than later.

And im not interested in linux either, i dont want to write war and peace on my keyboard to install a simple driver, linux is reserved for nerds and incels Im in the same boat, ive spent a good £2,000 on a ryzen machine, and as it stands my machine may as well be used as a doorstop. Theres one sure way of stopping windows update from working ever again and thats if you remove windows defender with msmg toolkit or ntlite, in short if you screw with the iso update wont work. This is no coincidence, its done on purpose. These instances only make the common users more vulnerable to sabotages from crooked hackers. In a desperate attempt to find a working solution to the problem, the common users blindly start following the instructions posted on such online forums. A perfect recipe for disaster, if a wrong person provides wrong inputs for stealing/sabotaging the users machine and key info! SuperGods at MS don't want to understand this simple problem. Since installing the complete update with the Media Creation Tool, all other subsequent cumulative updates worked flawlessly. However, I am still on v2004 and get updates for this build instead of upgrading to 20H2. Does anyone have an idea as to why that is so? This is strange. The current media creation tool does download 20H02 iso. Make sure you download media creation tool from the website and use the downloaded version to create the iso for in site upgrade.
