Restart Windows Live Mail
Windows Live Mail stopped working after last Windows 10 update
Since the last update of Windows 10, when I open Windows Live Mail every message produces "Message cannot be displayed." I tried running the "repair" utility, but nothing changed. Is this a widespread issue? I really liked Live Mail and had a lot of messages saved that I can no longer access. HELP!

2021-04-04T19:29:08+00:00 Thanks Louie,
This worked for me eventually, but as a novice in the registry area (if there's a way to get it wrong someone will discover it!) I initially created 3 DWORD entries as
RecreateFolderIndex = 1
RecreateStreamIndex = 1
RecreateUIDLIndex = 1not
RecreateFolderIndex
RecreateStreamIndex
RecreateUIDLIndexbefore double-clicking on new DWORDs and changing the 0 to 1 in the new small window. A picture posted in the chain also helped me spot my error (a picture paints a 1000 words!)
Still I now have O365 Outlook set up to see our emails in emergency too, now waiting for the next Windows 10 Update to see what will not work next!
Thank you very much for your post and for others who have posted here to help.
Cheers,
Tom

2021-03-28T21:14:46+00:00 When I reinstalled my hotmail account after reinstalling WLM, I didn't use manual setup, and I couldn't go to the setup step for manual setup without deleting the account and then adding it again using manual setup. It is now working again. When it started working again after it downloaded quite a few files which took a long time, I received your last reply. I really appreciate your help. I am saving these links in case this happens again.

2021-03-28T20:33:24+00:00 Sounds like you're on the wrong tab. Did you go to the File tab>Options>Email accounts, then clicked on "Properties"? If so, that's wrong.
You need to go to the Accountstab> then Properties>then the Servers tab. There you can set up the IMAP server,
Starting back at Propertieshere's how mine is set up:
CAREFUL! I have a hotmail account (it somehow goes through Outlook), so these details might not be right for you,
