Windows Live Mail stopped working after last Windows 10 update

Since the last update of Windows 10, when I open Windows Live Mail every message produces "Message cannot be displayed." I tried running the "repair" utility, but nothing changed. Is this a widespread issue? I really liked Live Mail and had a lot of messages saved that I can no longer access. HELP!

    Hi Louie.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

    I followed your instructions and it does work some.

    It had quit working all together.

    Now Windows live mail will open. It downloads the email but it does not populate those messages.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks, --Jim

    Hi Marc.

    I suggest you go back and read the instructions again.

    I think you left out a step or two.

    #3 is 5 individual locations that you click on to open the next.

    1. click Windows Key + R (to open run)
    2. in the run type and enter: REGEDIT
    3. Go to Computer > HKEY_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows Live Mail
    4. Create these 3 DWORD entries (if they didnt exist) or change to 1 if they exist

    RecreateFolderIndex = 1

    RecreateStreamIndex = 1

    RecreateUIDLIndex = 1

    1. Restart Windows Live Mail.

    Note: The steps were helpful for me but they did not fully resolve my software issue.

    Good luck, --Jim

    I didn't post the original fix, only the message that helped low-tech people find their way to the right place to type the Dwords. But, no, you must type EVERYTHING listed in the original fix posting. Then it will work.

    Done the above but not sure how to do it correctly.

    you indicate to type the three terms but I assume you mean without the word "recreate"?

    Jus t type     Folder      Stream      UIDL                  is this correct?

    And place the index number          "1"         for the Dword as decimal "1"?????

    Thanks
