Windows Live Mail stopped working after last Windows 10 update

Since the last update of Windows 10, when I open Windows Live Mail every message produces "Message cannot be displayed." I tried running the "repair" utility, but nothing changed. Is this a widespread issue? I really liked Live Mail and had a lot of messages saved that I can no longer access. HELP!

    I've been receiving a lot of praise for solving this problem, but in fairness I have to state that I did not originate the solution--I think it started on a German community board, and was then translated into English by someone else. (If you look at the entire thread, you will see who really deserves the thanks.) All I did was explain to the technically challenged (like me) where exactly to enter the DWord strings.

    Hi JamesMcVoy Good day.

    I am Louie, a Microsoft Community member and a fellow Windows 10 user like you. I hope I can help you on your concern.

    Its possible the Windows Live Mail got corrupted after the update, please perform the following below in the registry:

    1. click Windows Key + R (to open run)
    2. in the run type and enter: REGEDIT
    3. Go to Computer > HKEY_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows Live Mail
    4. Create these 3 DWORD entries (if they didnt exist) or change to 1 if they exist

    RecreateFolderIndex = 1

    RecreateStreamIndex = 1

    RecreateUIDLIndex = 1

    1. Restart Windows Live Mail.

    Sincerely

    Louie
