Windows Live Mail stopped working after last Windows 10 update

Since the last update of Windows 10, when I open Windows Live Mail every message produces "Message cannot be displayed." I tried running the "repair" utility, but nothing changed. Is this a widespread issue? I really liked Live Mail and had a lot of messages saved that I can no longer access. HELP!

    Same here. Registry Hack doesn't work for me. Tried uninstalling, and repairing but no dice.

    It wouldn't be as bad if W10 mail accept that I have a different name and password for my smtp server to my incoming pop3

    Don't call 800-642-7676.  You can reach them at 866-425-8809.   I found it and used again just yesterday.

    Louie, no matter how many times I change it to 1, RecreateStreamIndex always reverts back to 0?

    Hi WJSlush - I'm having the same issue - either after a reboot or a short amount of time, the values in all 3 entries go back to 1...did you find a solution for this problem?

    Hi Marc.

    I suggest you go back and read the instructions again.

    I think you left out a step or two.

    #3 is 5 individual locations that you click on to open the next.

    1. click Windows Key + R (to open run)
    2. in the run type and enter: REGEDIT
    3. Go to Computer > HKEY_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows Live Mail
    4. Create these 3 DWORD entries (if they didnt exist) or change to 1 if they exist

    RecreateFolderIndex = 1

    RecreateStreamIndex = 1

    RecreateUIDLIndex = 1

    1. Restart Windows Live Mail.

    Note: The steps were helpful for me but they did not fully resolve my software issue.

    Good luck, --Jim

    UPDATE - The editing of the DWord entries only worked until I rebooted the computer, then ALL of the values went back to 0....it erased my 1's.  Any ideas why anyone?

    Thank you Jim!  Those steps worked perfectly for my Windows Live Mail problem of not being able to Send emails while being able to Receive them. I was getting an error message of '421 CSI IP xx.xxx.xxx.xxx is not permitted to send messages'.  Even since I did the Registry DWord fix, it works again!  Thank you VERY MUCH!  Michael
