Desktop Windows Manager (DWM) memory leakage in Windows 10 (Version 2004).

The infamous dwm.exe hogging lots of memory. FYI this is not a specific program issue. It just happens with any programs, activities randomly.

I'm getting really tired of killing dwm.exe every so often so that it will release the occupied memory. When is this going to be fixed? Is this ever going to be fixed even?

    Ok nothing fixed on Windows 11 22000.194 with 30.0.100.9922.

    It's good if reverting to this driver version helped you, but it helps in cases where the operating system is not in Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian, Bulgarian or Arabic.

    I don't know how the system language and the dwm.exe process leak are related here on this driver version, but I have personally tested in all the above mentioned languages, but no leakage was observed in any other system language. I also ran a remote session with technical support and an Intel engineer and we tested different versions of the driver. The problem was observed, but they could not identify the root of the problem as to why it was happening. Most likely the problem is indeed on the MS side, as I encountered this problem after the 20H2 update in October 2020, with no problems detected since I bought the i7-10700 in September before the 20H2 update.

    Switching to AMD processors.

    Actually, can you please observe if the problem occurs after restarting the computer immediately after a "cold*" start? In most cases this is the most effective way. You can also try manually restarting the process dmw.exe, but this is less effective than I wrote above.

    *Simply switch off the PC, unplug the power supply or the mains filter. If you have a laptop, unplug it and remove the battery for about 30-40 minutes.

    its interesting that after installation of intel driver without rebooting, dwm.exe behaves correctly, even after few hibernation cycles.. on my PC still withint 200MB of mem allocation .. but probably it will start bloating after full restart..

    I also noticed this at first, but the service centre at the shop where I bought the processor said it was a defect and replaced it with a new one under warranty.

    All in all, this proves once again that it's something on the Windows (10 and 11) side, as the UHD driver itself runs without any problems and doesn't give any errors.

    Another solution, but for videocards owners, is to disable UHD (the MS driver will run in its place) or to use a processor without an iGP.
