My laptop is running Windows 10 2004 OS build 19041.388 and windows update decides to automatically install cumulative update KB4566782 (build 19041.450). The installation will fail (0x800f081f) during updating Windows and Windows update automatically retry to install it until my laptop's battery dies.

How get out of this update loop?

update: We need a true solution, and please do not mark reinstalling windows 10 as an answer, dear moderators.

    Excellent posting! And why Microsoft didn't jump on this right away leaves one (and many more) totally bewildered. And it of course does make one & the many more again wondering why this type of thing keeps happening! I mean seriously, who have they got for programmers? Possibly some from the Klingon Empire!

    That's so true. Can't believe that M$ still not going to fix those sht. Windows is the ugliest monotonic cumbersome nonstandard operating system I ever used, and it's a nightmare for deploying the developing environment. M$ today don't care too much about Windows and develop it in a careless way.

    Sadly my laptop's touchpad doesn't work under Ubuntu or I won't use Windows anymore

    Your last statement has me totally beaddled! Is it because of typo's or because you're using a Windows computer!

    Also, are some on here saying the Pear product, pardon me, I mean the Apple products never have problems with their updates?

    i mean

    if ( touchpad_works_under_Ubuntu == true ) { I_wont_use_Windows = true; //because M$ de la merda is making Windows a piece of merda }

    For Pear products, there's a bug called shellshock.

    Permit me to put it this way, if Microsoft & Apple joined forces, they would make quite a Pear! Pardon, I mean a Pair!

    Plus, Windows should be called Microsoft Doors with their logo stating, "Why crawl through Windows when you can gallop through doors"!!!
