KB4566782 Update Loop

My laptop is running Windows 10 2004 OS build 19041.388 and windows update decides to automatically install cumulative update KB4566782 (build 19041.450). The installation will fail (0x800f081f) during updating Windows and Windows update automatically retry to install it until my laptop's battery dies.

How get out of this update loop?

update: We need a true solution, and please do not mark reinstalling windows 10 as an answer, dear moderators.

    Ran the commands in the Command Prompt (Administrative- as most of the commands failed in the non-Administrative mode).  Bottom line, the process failed. See below. The Net Stop bits response is not quite right, also the

    Ren %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.bak   result indicated either a duplicate file or no file (of course running the next command in sequence would fail. I the finished the process with: Net Start bits-see unusual response, Net Start wuauserv, Net Start appidsvc and Net Start cryptsvc.

    Windows Update KB4566782 still fails. I also forgot to mention that I ran the Background Intelligence Transfer Service troubleshooter under the Control Panel /Hardware and Sound and "it did find a corruption with the BITS service" and corrected it. I re-ran DISM....../RestoreHealth followed by sfc /scannow. I then re-tried to download the KB4566782  update using Windows Update and it failed again with the same error.

    Running the Windows Update troubleshooter showed a Pass. I should also point out that Windows Update showed that the download installation was 100% and after about 40 seconds later, it showed it failed.

    Well, in this case I suggest you perform a system reset. You can get to choose to keep your personal files, but Windows will be reset, fixing the issues with updates. The necessary steps can be checked on the link below:

    Thank you for your assistance. It was very much appreciated. I will be taking sometime to decide whether to use the Windows re-set option that you suggested or use my Acronis True Image 2020 backup program.
