KB4566782 Update Loop

I'm sorry to hear that none have worked. Does it also include the hide and show troubleshooter? The troubleshooter could prevent that troublesome update to automatically install...

None of the above solutions worked. I think this should be Microsoft's fault because I tried to install that update to another clean windows machine and get the same error code too.

You can start off by running the Windows Update troubleshooter:

If that doesn't solve the issue, manually download the update from Microsoft Update Catalog:

Select the exact update to download and install.

Windows also has a built-in System File Check (SFC), kindly run SFC tool and see if will help with the problem.

1. Run command prompts as administrator.
2. Type the command SFC /SCANNOW then hit Enter.
3. Let the scan complete and it will automatically will fix if there would be any corrupted data.

If this doesn't work, you can clear the Windows Update cache before attempting to update your Windows.

1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
2. Enter Commands:

net stop wuauserv

net stop bits

3. Press Windows key + R then type the path name:

C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution

4. Select all of it's contents then right-click and select Delete.
5. Open Command Prompt as Administrator again.
6. Type the commands:

net start wuauserv

net start bits

7. Try updating again.

As a last resort, use an installation media and use the Windows Repair feature.

1. Click the "Download tool now" button.
2. Once downloaded run the MediaCreationTool2004.exe file.
3. Accept the terms.
4. Select Create an installation media, then hit Next.
5. Proceed with the prompts.

Once the installation media is created, double click on the file then on the Windows Setup screen, click on Repair your computer.

Error Code 0x800f081f means CBS_E_SOURCE_MISSING.

The fastest way to repair is to do a inplace upgrade.

Have you installed a 3rd party Antivirus and/or Firewall Program and Tuning Tools?

When yes, please remove this.

Please use the removal tool of the respective manufacturer of the antivirus or firewall program also.

Apparently Jericho must have fell flat for again, one is left scratching ones head (or someone else's). 

It seems the question 'can one update from the catalogue' left the expert stumped. Anyway, that doesn't work for obviously, the problem isn't getting the Update but installing it.

If someone else has got too much time on their hands, that one might throw out a suggestion.
