KB4566782 Update Loop

My laptop is running Windows 10 2004 OS build 19041.388 and windows update decides to automatically install cumulative update KB4566782 (build 19041.450). The installation will fail (0x800f081f) during updating Windows and Windows update automatically retry to install it until my laptop's battery dies.

How get out of this update loop?

update: We need a true solution, and please do not mark reinstalling windows 10 as an answer, dear moderators.

    Yep. Same thing happened to me! Was not a happy camper!

    I can not believe what just happened.

    The September update failed for KB4571756 in exactly the same way as KB4566782.

    I tried standalone installer, no success.

    SFC gives me a clean bill.

    But guess what ?????????????

    This is the SAME update, Microsoft just changed the number !!!!!!!!!

    I will start a thread with the new number.

    Please join if it is also failing on your system.

    PS. Stopping updates for 4 weeks , still not accepting repair install as a solution.

    That's why I've paused updates until I hear from them about the cumulative update repair.

    However if you need to boot into Safe Mode using a USB, try this video.

    I would wait until a new download, which should come sometime this week (typically 2020-09-08) and see if you can update accordingly. Hopefully, it would include the code for KB4566782 (I may be incorrect on this).

    When you said you tried everything, did you try the Windows 10 MediaCreation Tool process?

    I tried everything solution i can find even here i’ve tried everything. Seems none of this works. I have the failed download update KB4566782. 

    Just looked up the status of this update on the Microsoft download site, it still has the original August 10 date. I will restart Windows update tomorrow and see what happens.
