I 100% agree with you. I already tried every fix listed, barring reinstall, in this thread, and that was before I even found this thread! It’s absolutely ridiculous this has not been addressed by Microsoft yet. I’ve read countless news articles about how widespread this issue is.
KB4566782 Update Loop
My laptop is running Windows 10 2004 OS build 19041.388 and windows update decides to automatically install cumulative update KB4566782 (build 19041.450). The installation will fail (0x800f081f) during updating Windows and Windows update automatically retry to install it until my laptop's battery dies.
How get out of this update loop?
update: We need a true solution, and please do not mark reinstalling windows 10 as an answer, dear moderators.

Microsoft should seriously consider working on this issue. Reinstalling windows should not be a solution to windows update failures. If it is I have to reinstall windows every damn week because of those buggy glitches.
Why not just be careful and TEST more before you publish an update, Micro$oft.

2020-08-22T14:05:12+00:00 Does B1tbull know I got the update and it installed? I can't believe that the update was resent to me and not everyone else. My getting a case number in an email from them should not have mattered . I wonder if anyone besides me got the update a second time and it installed.
Did you consider doing what I did to get a case number? If I hadn't got it, I wouldn't have done anything else as all one should have to do with a new update is click on install.
