Will Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 support multiple monitors?

For example, one monitor for instruments, another for front view, one for left, and one for right?

This is opposed to one view being spread over two monitors.

You can span the display using Nvidia's Surround, which is part of the Nvidia control panel.

There is something similar to this if you are using an AMD video card.

At present, FS2020 DOES NOT allow you to open new additional windows for separate instruments, views, etc., like it did in FSX.

Hopefully Microsoft will address this in the future, and make this benefit available, ... although I doubt it, because the software is designed to mainly run under an XBOX single window environment (using either a PC as in XBOX Beta for PC or on an XBOX console.)

I'm currently running FS2020 using three screens with a resolution of 5760 x 1200, and FS2020 runs fine across these three monitors which are in Nvidia's Surround (so it looks like one big, very wide screen monitor.) And this works great, EXCEPT it would be nice to be able to open up another window for just the instruments, like I could do under FSX.

One of the trade-offs, of going with the much, much, much more advanced FS2020 software.

IMHO in general its best to let the card, the software and monitors ‘negotiate’ the optimal settings.  I’ve not encountered anything of great value in manual configs, except for specifying max fps for xp11.  Others may disagree, but be aware that if you go down that road you’ve taken on another layer of maintenance and configuration responsibilities for the various apps you have which may require different manual tweaking to undo what youve done for msfs.

But can you set the field of view for each monitor? A widescreen view is not the same as a wraparound view.

Geoff, at least with NVidia cards with the surround option enabled the field of view is split evenly between each monitor with no option for alternate schemes.  The total field of view for the resulting virtual single monitor is usually managed in the application software configuration process.  In my poking around MSFS I did not see an option for that, but could easily have missed it as I did not research thoroughly.

That said, I’m not sure what you meant by wraparound view so I may not have answered your question.

Hi Brian, my understanding of nVidia Surround is that it just makes multiple monitors appear to Windows as a single widescreen monitor. That has nothing to do with field of view as defined in an application. If I have 3 monitors and set the 2 outer ones at a 45 degree angle to the centre one, Surround isn't magically going to give me a 135 degree field of view when I run a flight sim. I want the left and right monitors to display exactly what I would see from the cockpit when I turn my head 45 degrees in either direction, with a seamless view across all 3 monitors. X-Plane does this beautifully in the graphics settings, but I suspect FS 2020 does not currently provide this level of realism using multiple monitors.
