Will Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 support multiple monitors?

For example, one monitor for instruments, another for front view, one for left, and one for right?

This is opposed to one view being spread over two monitors.

You can span the display using Nvidia's Surround, which is part of the Nvidia control panel.

There is something similar to this if you are using an AMD video card.

At present, FS2020 DOES NOT allow you to open new additional windows for separate instruments, views, etc., like it did in FSX.

Hopefully Microsoft will address this in the future, and make this benefit available, ... although I doubt it, because the software is designed to mainly run under an XBOX single window environment (using either a PC as in XBOX Beta for PC or on an XBOX console.)

I'm currently running FS2020 using three screens with a resolution of 5760 x 1200, and FS2020 runs fine across these three monitors which are in Nvidia's Surround (so it looks like one big, very wide screen monitor.) And this works great, EXCEPT it would be nice to be able to open up another window for just the instruments, like I could do under FSX.

One of the trade-offs, of going with the much, much, much more advanced FS2020 software.

The developers knew they were going to release it without the ability to undock windows for home cockpits. That's why no one could find any real answers to the question prior to launch.

There was one video i found where one of the developers stated that multiple screens could be used for the home cockpit builders, however he didn't mention that it would be achieved by stretching the main screen which we all know is nowhere close to what is needed.

Why would they avoid these questions prior to launch. Profit.

They knew if they announced no multiple monitor support as has been expected out of every simulator for the last 20 years i know i would never have purchased it.

I suspect this is true for a lot of serious simmers.

I want my money back. this truly was a hyped up sim but is really only an arcade game at best.

did i mention it has good scenery.( that will help you be a better pilot, Not)

I agree wholeheartedly with your comments BitTron.

I bet many of those features of FSX are lurking under the hood of FS2020. If FS2020 had the pull-down menus of FSX at least some of those features would probably be accessible.

Otherwise it's just a game, not a really useful simulator. Great if all you want to do is jump in the cockpit, hit GO and with a gleeful shout buzz the tower.

Well for the record, I'm running Windows 10 Pro - Build version 19041.508, on a Ryzen 9 3950x with an NVidia RTX 2080 TI in a 3 monitor Surround mode, with 2 additional smaller monitors (not in the Surround) running off of a separate RTX 2060 card and I've installed both the new FS2020 as well as re-installed my old FSX (and all of its add-ons) on this PC, and both are running just fine. No problems.

With FSX you have to run it in compatibility mode, but it works perfectly and I can open multiple windows and undock windows and move them around between the Surround monitor and onto the 2 additional smaller monitors.

I wish that FS2020 had ALL of the same features, abilities and attributes of FSX. If we have the graphics quality and world-wide mapping found in FS2020, in FSX, it would be (IMO) a perfect flight simulator. I can't see why the FS2020 developers, didn't incorporate some of the great features found in FSX (like being able to open and undock additional windows for instruments or views, being able to better map and re-assign flight control buttons, having a broader range of flight controls that are supported and other great features that were found on FSX, etc, etc.)

FS2020 is a good simulator. Certainly the best in the XBOX world, but it greatly lacks a lot of the terrific features that were in FSX and that can also be found in X-Plane 11.5 now as well.

Come on Microsoft .... let's get it together here! A lot of improvements are needed for FS2020 and it needs to be updated to incorporate some of the best features of FSX, please!
