Will Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 support multiple monitors?

For example, one monitor for instruments, another for front view, one for left, and one for right?

This is opposed to one view being spread over two monitors.

You can span the display using Nvidia's Surround, which is part of the Nvidia control panel.

There is something similar to this if you are using an AMD video card.

At present, FS2020 DOES NOT allow you to open new additional windows for separate instruments, views, etc., like it did in FSX.

Hopefully Microsoft will address this in the future, and make this benefit available, ... although I doubt it, because the software is designed to mainly run under an XBOX single window environment (using either a PC as in XBOX Beta for PC or on an XBOX console.)

I'm currently running FS2020 using three screens with a resolution of 5760 x 1200, and FS2020 runs fine across these three monitors which are in Nvidia's Surround (so it looks like one big, very wide screen monitor.) And this works great, EXCEPT it would be nice to be able to open up another window for just the instruments, like I could do under FSX.

One of the trade-offs, of going with the much, much, much more advanced FS2020 software.

First off, whatever application, game or software you are using, it must support whatever resolution that you have setup.

Using NVidia's Surround setup, you will get a little bit of distortion or stretching on each end or side monitors, put its usually minimal.

It would if it was a parameter under user control, which it doesnt appear to be with this sim.

Maybe when we try to reduce a 3 dimensional world to 2 dimensions the end result is always a "distorted" or stretched view out to the sides. Our eye sees perspective as a point at infinity in the direction we are looking at. Yet I find that when I look ahead in the real world but maintain awareness of what is to the sides, to me that area doesn't appear stretched like what I see in the monitors. If there was some way to display that side area in an unstretched manner. Maybe FOV solves some of that?

"Field of View size modifiable parameter like XP11."

Hmmmm... that's interesting. I'm going to have to investigate that. I have been running 3 22" exterior view monitors for some years and have always been looking for a way to eliminate that stretching in the two side monitors.

I agree with your comment "FS20 is a neat little XBOX game." That's a handy way to describe it. Others also suspect that Microsoft will leave it in that state. Time will tell.

Yeah no parameter in this SIM.  With XP11 (and likely others) you reduce both distortion and what you can see as you decrease FOV because the ratio of width to height becomes more like the actual monitors.  You can increase the width with multiple monitors but not the height right?  As I’ve mentioned elsewhere TrackIR can be helpful with that.  It will be interesting to see if MS develops this into a function sim or targets the Xbox game crowd.
