Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 Installation Problems / Clarification

Hi,

I have been struggling with getting MSFS 2020 to install!

Pre-Purchased the Premium Deluxe Edition and i have a Windows 10 PC - and so far all attempts have failed at some point over the last 12 hours of trying.

First question - what is the order of installation that should be performed from the Microsoft Store across the items that are listed there in two parts:

  1. Manage - with just one entry "Microsoft Flight Simulator: Premium Deluxe" and
  2. Bundle Contents - that lists four sub-parts

2.1 "Microsoft Flight Simulator"

2.2 "Flight Simulator Deluxe Upgrade"

2.3 "Flight Simulator Premium Deluxe Upgrade"

2.4 "Digital Ownership"

Is there a particular order or hierarchy that these need to be installed?

i.e. do each of the sub-parts of point 2 above need to be installed individually and prior to the first part (i.e. point 1), or does installing the first (Managed) install all the others?

So far the downloads have been erratic, and i installed the first part and then launched it, it started up and then froze, and then crashed on restart. When trying to install the sub-parts, the computer just site there with "working" displayed on the sub-part line.

This is really frustrating!

Anyone able to provide some guidance or point to a set of instructions on how to get MSFS2020 installed?

thanks!

I totally agree! When installing and it quits, It says nothing!!!! Why couldn't they say what caused the problem? Simple.....

In another post I mentioned how MS originally intended this sim for xBox which one person came close to calling me a liar. Yet, you need an xBox account to play: why?

I really don’t want to get into an argument but to me it explains why there are so many issues with it right now. And I wish they would focus on fixing the aircraft in the updates versus the scenery (I saw a notice they are focusing on updating Japan scenery). I paid for Premium to get the extra aircraft but they are horrible at this point. To add insult to injury MS removed the sensitivity controls.

If it had not been such a painful experience installing it I would remove it completely. The only saving grace at this point is to wait for 3rd party aircraft addons.

I do not have a fix or even a tip, but here's what I've been dealing with so know you are NOT alone.

I have been in this $129 dollar sinking "TITANIC" boat strapped to a deck chair for the past 4 weeks!!! I've spoken to XBOX, XBOX LIVE, GEN SUPPORT, WINDOWS, WINDOWS 10, MS STORE, and BILLING SUPPORT via chat and over the phone only to be left on hold and forced to hear the rep talk about "Birthday Cake" and what flavors of icing she liked.  Week 4.5 and NOBODY @Microsoft has been able to help me.  My time on the phone right now sits at 12 hours and 32 minutes without any form or attempt to provide SUPPORT.

All they have done now is taken my money, plus allowed me to download it from the store, but it stops because NOW it thinks I'm in N. Korea and missing my TOKEN!?!? I've never been in this nightmare before.  They are very lucky I cant fly my MSFLTSIM 2020 Plane to go have a face to face chat with them in Seattle!!!

For a company the size of Microsoft, I cannot begin to think about how much money they lose because of the lack of qualified support staff who know what needs to be done to fix any issues!  Better yet just imagine how much MORE they would make if they actually HAD REAL SUPPORT PEOPLE!   At least with an Apple product, you know you are going to get a pouty millennial to help you and you'll be lucky at best.

Sadly the lack or even any feeble attempts to help a customer figure out a solution is simply not an option and I'm very sure Microsoft knows this!  They also know it is what really drives me or anyone for that matter crazy.  Money first and that is it after the sale.

Maybe the fine folks @Microsoft should include a small bottle of Holy Water to bless your download so maybe, just maybe it works and we all know there @Microsoft they are very aware that they make you feel very sad, angry, nuts, and of course, they also make you feel like you are in a ***"Who's on First"***sketch.  For all of the Millenials out there here's what I'm talking about when I stated "Who's on first:"  https://youtu.be/2ZksQd2fC6Y

QTheVideo - If misery loves company; it is now 26 days since I paid Amazon $60 for a code to load MSFS 2020 at the MS Store.  I'm now up to about 41 "fixes" found at Microsoft, various forum, YouTube videos, hours of MS tech support, etc. So far I have not had a single bit or byte of that program downloaded from either the Xbox installer or MS Store to my fully MSFS capable and excellent performing gaming laptop.

TO ALL WHO ARE HAVING ISSUES WITH MSFS.

    1. This is a "generic" MS site, and although good enough for windows/office/etc, it is definitely NOT the best place to post MSFS issues. AFAIK, no-one from that team are monitoring this site, or if they are, they're being very quiet (unhelpful) about it.
    2. Because of their lack of attention to this site, they likely don't know of your problems, so you need a new strategy.
    3. Microsoft has set up its own special support site. It's at https://www.flightsimulator.com/, and you can crate an Xbox login (if you don't already have one), login there, and express your issues in the sure and certain knowledge the your issue will be addressed. maybe not instantly, but you will have it addressed.
