Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 Installation Problems / Clarification

Hi,

I have been struggling with getting MSFS 2020 to install!

Pre-Purchased the Premium Deluxe Edition and i have a Windows 10 PC - and so far all attempts have failed at some point over the last 12 hours of trying.

First question - what is the order of installation that should be performed from the Microsoft Store across the items that are listed there in two parts:

  1. Manage - with just one entry "Microsoft Flight Simulator: Premium Deluxe" and
  2. Bundle Contents - that lists four sub-parts

2.1 "Microsoft Flight Simulator"

2.2 "Flight Simulator Deluxe Upgrade"

2.3 "Flight Simulator Premium Deluxe Upgrade"

2.4 "Digital Ownership"

Is there a particular order or hierarchy that these need to be installed?

i.e. do each of the sub-parts of point 2 above need to be installed individually and prior to the first part (i.e. point 1), or does installing the first (Managed) install all the others?

So far the downloads have been erratic, and i installed the first part and then launched it, it started up and then froze, and then crashed on restart. When trying to install the sub-parts, the computer just site there with "working" displayed on the sub-part line.

This is really frustrating!

Anyone able to provide some guidance or point to a set of instructions on how to get MSFS2020 installed?

    Jay,  I fully believe that for my "download won't even start" issue too.   My fully capable one-year-old gaming laptop works flawlessly for EVERYTHING else but downloading MSFS.  I can download and run any other Microsoft Store or aftermarket program with no issues.  I have tried every MSFS Microsoft tech, YouTube, and forum so-called fixes known multiple times. 

    The only one I have not tried is a total reload of the laptop's as-built HP/Windows.   I certainly wouldn't disassemble and rebuild a one-year-old perfectly functioning vehicle because a new add-on accessory won't work.

    Hi, I want to let everyone know that I backed up my harddrive and reinstalled with the newest edition of windows 10. Downloaded flight sim and no more problems! I tried just over writing my windows and no luck.....so I thought there must must be something left on my harddrive that prevented installation and bingo! I would rather have gave up 4hrs to backup and reinstall than the 5 days I was pulling my hair out! trying to get it to work. Now it works great and with the newest updates they just installed makes it even greater! They should have told everyone to backup their systems, install Win10 2002, reinstall your motherboard drivers, install the Flight Sim, and then put your backup files back on your system. It worked like a charm and no more problems and I noticed that it sped up my system quite a bit. Shame on Microsoft for not telling everyone about needing a Win10 2002 fresh install to get it to work right!

    Thanks for the answer but  I have no intention to completely reinstall my PC every time Microsoft brings out a new product. My machine is a Windows 10 PRO and is up to date with the latest patches. It contains plenty of other software which takes considerable time to reinstall and configure. Your estimate of 5 days work would be accurate for my setup. It certainly won't be done in 4 hours time. Anyway a downtime of more than 1 day is simply not acceptable.

    Everyone still having problems, are you sure that your username does not include characters like é or ö? 

    I had that, created an extra windows account without such. It worked for me, installed again under that account and could finally fly after 3 weeks.
