Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 Installation Problems / Clarification

Hi,

I have been struggling with getting MSFS 2020 to install!

Pre-Purchased the Premium Deluxe Edition and i have a Windows 10 PC - and so far all attempts have failed at some point over the last 12 hours of trying.

First question - what is the order of installation that should be performed from the Microsoft Store across the items that are listed there in two parts:

  1. Manage - with just one entry "Microsoft Flight Simulator: Premium Deluxe" and
  2. Bundle Contents - that lists four sub-parts

2.1 "Microsoft Flight Simulator"

2.2 "Flight Simulator Deluxe Upgrade"

2.3 "Flight Simulator Premium Deluxe Upgrade"

2.4 "Digital Ownership"

Is there a particular order or hierarchy that these need to be installed?

i.e. do each of the sub-parts of point 2 above need to be installed individually and prior to the first part (i.e. point 1), or does installing the first (Managed) install all the others?

So far the downloads have been erratic, and i installed the first part and then launched it, it started up and then froze, and then crashed on restart. When trying to install the sub-parts, the computer just site there with "working" displayed on the sub-part line.

This is really frustrating!

Anyone able to provide some guidance or point to a set of instructions on how to get MSFS2020 installed?

thanks!

When in doubt, follow the instructions. Sorry mate, but if you had followed the instructions, you would probably not be in the pickle that you are in. The whole program is more than 150gB, and it will need to apply multiple updates to bring it up to date. At least during the early days there are quite frequent, often large, updates flying out of Asobo's shop.

Head over to https://www.flightsimulator.com/, which is the official MSFS 2020 support site, and repeat your woes there. I'm sure that some kind soul will come to your rescue.

BTW, does the disk version come with a manual? And is it any good? Us poor "downloaders" got no documentation at all, so a lot of us headed over to https://sofly.io/flight-simulator-guide/ and have a look at their (paid) offering. It covers most of what you will need once you get the sim up and running.

    Good luck

Having read about a lot of problems downloading MSFS I bought the disc version of MSFS Premium Deluxe. It installed ok and the program is in the C drive although its not visible. By that I mean the space in the drive is occupied by 100+gb. After loading a window came up to register the program and I registered it. It then told me I own the program and I should download the 107 gb. Having already installed it I closed the window. I cant find the program anywhere. There are no icons anywhere to start it and if I enter the code again it tells me its already been redeemed. Does anyone have any ideas where to go from here?

    Running on build 19042

1TB SSD with 318.8GB to spare

Nothing happens when I click on Install. A refund would be the most sensible action right now. Canned responses from "Microsoft experts" would just make things worse.
