Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 Installation Problems / Clarification

Hi,

I have been struggling with getting MSFS 2020 to install!

Pre-Purchased the Premium Deluxe Edition and i have a Windows 10 PC - and so far all attempts have failed at some point over the last 12 hours of trying.

First question - what is the order of installation that should be performed from the Microsoft Store across the items that are listed there in two parts:

  1. Manage - with just one entry "Microsoft Flight Simulator: Premium Deluxe" and
  2. Bundle Contents - that lists four sub-parts

2.1 "Microsoft Flight Simulator"

2.2 "Flight Simulator Deluxe Upgrade"

2.3 "Flight Simulator Premium Deluxe Upgrade"

2.4 "Digital Ownership"

Is there a particular order or hierarchy that these need to be installed?

i.e. do each of the sub-parts of point 2 above need to be installed individually and prior to the first part (i.e. point 1), or does installing the first (Managed) install all the others?

So far the downloads have been erratic, and i installed the first part and then launched it, it started up and then froze, and then crashed on restart. When trying to install the sub-parts, the computer just site there with "working" displayed on the sub-part line.

This is really frustrating!

Anyone able to provide some guidance or point to a set of instructions on how to get MSFS2020 installed?

    Bought the flight simulator premium deluxe. Bought an Omen game pc just for this program. Started with installing the disc. Disc 7 gave an error and the installing stopped completely. Can someone advice what the reason can be and how to carry on?

    I am fighting the black screen problem.  No matter what I have tried the game launches into a black screen with no movement - tried administrator, virus/firewall on/off/, uninstall/reinstall (all multiple times), changing screen resolution,  standing in a container of water while patting head and waving...... all to no avail.  Eventually went for a clean Win 10 install with Nvidia drivers and Windows update - it worked!!  However....  had to shut the computer down and on restart back to the black screen.  Another fresh install but no luck this time, black screen every time.

    Have to agree with the negative comments about the software, a decent financial outlay for nothing but grief.

    I had still have the same problems.  Ongoing for a month.

    I am looking for a real expert - underline - who know exactly how to fix it.  I have done everything one can do.  

    HAPPY TO PAY IF THE PERSON KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM THAT'S CAUSING IT IS.

    The installation procedure for this software is egregious!

    In over 40 years of PC use I have never before come across an installation routine as convoluted, slow and irritating as this.

    Poor show ASOBO/Microsoft.

    Remember where it was designed - in France, and the French have a warped sense of the ridiculous! N'est ce pas? 

    Anyway, once I used the VPN in the download path, it went a LOT faster for me, and the final result was complete, clean and, as far as I can tell, defect free.

    Apart from the idiosynchratic use of the Microsoft Store, I found it quite easy to follow.

    When I weigh the rewards I receive afterwards I have found it all to be worthwhile.  And, I as well have over 40 years of experience with computers.  Along with governmental software development.  So, while some find it a real nuisance and time consuming to install, think a bit about what is was like to develop the simulator, graphics, interfaces, et al.  It was a hugh project undertaken by groups of individuals who spent countless hours in research, development, and testing. 

    And, if you really think it is a poor show, switch frequencies and fly off!  Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!
