Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 Installation Problems / Clarification

Hi,

I have been struggling with getting MSFS 2020 to install!

Pre-Purchased the Premium Deluxe Edition and i have a Windows 10 PC - and so far all attempts have failed at some point over the last 12 hours of trying.

First question - what is the order of installation that should be performed from the Microsoft Store across the items that are listed there in two parts:

  1. Manage - with just one entry "Microsoft Flight Simulator: Premium Deluxe" and
  2. Bundle Contents - that lists four sub-parts

2.1 "Microsoft Flight Simulator"

2.2 "Flight Simulator Deluxe Upgrade"

2.3 "Flight Simulator Premium Deluxe Upgrade"

2.4 "Digital Ownership"

Is there a particular order or hierarchy that these need to be installed?

i.e. do each of the sub-parts of point 2 above need to be installed individually and prior to the first part (i.e. point 1), or does installing the first (Managed) install all the others?

So far the downloads have been erratic, and i installed the first part and then launched it, it started up and then froze, and then crashed on restart. When trying to install the sub-parts, the computer just site there with "working" displayed on the sub-part line.

This is really frustrating!

Anyone able to provide some guidance or point to a set of instructions on how to get MSFS2020 installed?

thanks!

    Hi Matt,

I'm not a million miles away in Melbourne, but that's not why I'm posting here to you.

Can I suggest that if you haven't already done so, that you get in touch with the official Microsoft Flight Sim 2020 website team, and let then know about your progress.

I'm pretty certain that they would be interested, and if you don't dive in over there already, you really should do. It's a much better site for flight sim stuff than this one, where most of the support looks like the blind leading the blind.

You'll find the official site at flightsimulator.com.

    Good to hear from you.

BTW, if you want some free scenery downloads, or the liveries megapack, hop on over to flightsim.to. There are several Aussies working with them, and some real you beaut city scenery packs, oh, and cities, and airports, too.

    Hello.

Us here at "Australian Aviation East Coast" have developed a file which is a single one click installer to correct your MSFS download installation issues.

There is no longer a need to run and open a command prompt and use the netsh command anymore which can be confusing and hard for some people to understand.

We have created a simple 1 click file which will do all of this for you automatically and fix your installation issues.

Once you have downloaded and clicked the file. Your installer should now work and complete your base or patch installation issues

When patch 5 came out. It kept getting stuck at 300mb to go. I restarted, updated windows and none of this worked. I did it over and over again but to installer kept failing. And I am on a 1gb/s internet connection!

To fix the problem all I did was go to this link. Download the file and with one single click it fixed my update and installer issues.

    https://www.australianaviation.net/downloads

Highly recommend if you are having install or update problems

The file has been scanned and virus free.

You may need to right hand click on the file and select "Run as administrator" for the file to work correctly.

Big thanks to the boys at Australian Aviation East Coast for Releasing and developing this installer fix with a single click.

    Hi QTheVideo,

A couple of points to consider.

    1. I am not employed by Microsoft, neither am I in the business of promoting their products in any way, but I am in the business of assisting any fellow simmer that I can. That said, please read on
    2. Your advertising of another non-Microsoft site is almost certainly a breach of the code of conduct for this site, so can I urge you please to remove it.
    3. This really is not an appropriate site for reporting problems with MS Flight Simulator. The guts dealing with complaints and questions here do not appear to be very conversant with the new sim. Fortunately, Microsoft has a whole site DEDICATED to supporting FS2020 users with problems, and so far, they have a fairly good outcome for a lot of the problems that arose after the release of the title.
    4. I'm not going to post a link, but suggest that you take your problem over to a site called flightsimmer.com. Look it up in Google first - it's genuine - and it's staffed by the Microsoft Team, experts from Asobo, and a load of MSFS fans with centuries of experience between them in helping users with problems.
    5. If you would prefer not to go to a Microsoft site, then you could address your issue to either Avsim, or flightsim.com, both of whom have been assisting the Flight Sim community for over 20 years.
    6. Good luck, and don't give up.

Requested a refund and of course they said No because it is over 14 days....what a croc.  Even with all the patches ... no success.

Told MS that this refusal of a refund for a program which does not work for some of us is a HUGE public relations mistake.

I went to X-Plane and it worked right after installation....beautiful.

Trying a refund option lead by paypal... I let you know how things worked out, or not...
