Ok.
Your Windows Update troubleshooter is completed. Did you do a restart to your computer???
After doing the sfc /scannow it did not find any corrupted files on your windows 10. After completed the sfc /scannow did you restart the computer???
I do not know why Reno Sifana Paksi told you to do windows 10 registry. For the Windows Update???
YES, I restarted my computer after each of the above scans. RENO Sifana Paksi was trying to help me get my WindowsUpdate 'folder' back that is missing in my registry. Others reported that they also did not have WINDOWSUPDATE in their registry either and he was trying to help us with that issue.
I WILL NOT mess with the registry since I'm not having any REAL MAJOR issues as of now.
YES, I have my windows updates paused because I do not want to get the dreaded NEW cumulative update again!! It caused me many problems. I know the new version is inevitable, but am putting it off as long as I can. That is why I was asking about installing the "Tuesday Updates" manually.
My concern at this point is getting updates (important/critical) needed for my version/build. Not sure how important that it at this point and I'm not even confident that Microsoft is able to get those updates correct! When I go to the links that show these updates, I get confused as to which one(s) I should install. I have Windows 10 Home Edition, 64-bit --NOW version 1909 (after rolling back), OS build 18363.1016.
For now, I'll leave things status-quo. Thanks again so much for your time/help and sorry for confusing you. Imagine how I feel!!!! :D
I feel like such a "TOOL." I THINK I found the answer to the registry mystery: When this all started way back when, the path we were given was:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Policies \ Microsoft \ Windows \ WindowsUpdate. -- I could not locate WindowsUpdate there.
NOW: I tried HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft/ - (as per your screenshot mrdbeta)
then i scrolled way down to find WindowsUpdate!! Woola - it's there! If I try to use the first string with POLICIES it still does not show WindowsUpdate- Perhaps it's my Home version that is the difference (shrugs.)
I'm so sorry you went to much trouble when I was using the wrong path to get where I wanted to be. Walking away with tail between legs.
TY again!
