Wynn, long night but sucsessful!!! Was able to complete SYSTEM RESTORE BACK TO AUSUST 31, 2020. By only RUNNING IT IN SAFE MODE. Took hours but it worked. Now I have turned off updates until October 17. Although I did see in the services.msc an option to turn off updates altogether, but left it’s default for now. Good luck everybody.

Hi , Today morning, 12 Sept 20 when i was installing windows pending updates , My laptop is crashed . Now its not at all working. Its not booting up at all. and not showing bios or anything. when i hit the start button , It is making beep sound like crazy. I think its dead crash. Has anybody faced this problem.? You have a couple of options to try to recover: Restart you computer 4 times. (let up come up to the desktop before doing the next restart). Or Go into "Safe Mode" [Hold the "Shift" key while clicking "Restart"}. a. After the restart it will display the "Choose your option" screen. Select "Troubleshoot" b. When the "Troubleshoot" screen appears, select "Advanced options". c. On the "Advanced options" screen" select "Startup Settings". d. When the "Startup Settings" screen appears, click "Restart". e. After the Restart, you will get a list of options. Select "4". f. This should get you into "Safe Mode". Then click "Restart" again to get you computer back to normal mode. g. See if your files are now there. JohnD

WynnDoze, It is true that the free version is a little limited. It only allows full or differential backups and no incremental or file or folder backups. You would have to get the paid version ($70) for that. You would most likely never use the "clone" option. That would only be used if you got a new hard drive and you wanted to copy everything over from the old drive to the new drive without having to reinstall everything. What people need to do is backup the system before the updates are released. The monthly updates come out on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. If you have an issue then you can easily restore your system to the state it was in prior to the update. Are you using a wireless or wired Internet connection? The "Oz" wizard you are referring to I assume is the Windows Troubleshooter. Does it tell you what the problem is or what it fixed? What version and build of Windows do you have? [If you right-click the "Start Menu" icon, click "Run", enter "winver" (without the quotes) in the box, and click OK], it should give you that information. What compute do you have (make and model) and how old is it? What are its specs (memory, hard drive type and size, and processor)? What video card do you have and what is the driver version? Okay PC troubleshooting question. My Windows installed an update overnight last Monday-Tuesday and when I woke up the next day: Desktop Wallpaper changed to a default Firefox lost all my tabs, logins and browsing history. It also hasn't been able to keep these things day to day as I shut down and start up my computer every day (except for history as long as I start logging in to my Firefox account every day). Windows has moved all the things saved in My Documents etc to a different place nested under users. The other normal default Documents folder is empty. I copy pasted my old files to this empty Documents folder yesterday and today I have found them gone again. Has anyone else had this? Can I recover what has been lost from my old tabs? It's like my computer is determined to undo my preferences every day and I don't know what to even do

Hi ,

It is possible that you were thrown into a "temporary" profile after the update. You have a couple of options to try to recover:
