    New Surface Duo owner...

After freshly loading Windows 10 on a new Dell XPS 9700 and fully updating, Windows 10 crashes when the phone is plugged into the laptop.

The "Your phone' app works perfectly and Windows behaves correctly in every other way except when plugging the Surface Duo into a USB port.

Does anyone know if any of these processes are related to the Action Center?

    Wynn, long night but sucsessful!!

GREAT NEWS Miabear.  More HOURS you've spent on this! pshhhhhh.

I remembered I did about 4 system restore points prior to the update.  When I looked just now, ALL my restore points have been deleted!

It's getting past ridiculous.  I'm glad you were successful anyway!!.  Hope more people have the same outcome!

Amit, if you have made a usb backup boot image, plug it in and try to bootup tapping the F12 key until it goes into bootup mode. Choose country(US) and your Windows version (probably Windows 10) and follow the prompts to Advanced Settings and reboot in Safe Mode. If you get there, go to System Restore and choose a date before September 8. It will take hours but mine was sucsessful after 3 days of this bulls***.Good luck.  What ever way you can.....get into safe mode to bypass the errors SYSTEM RESTORE MAY THROW AT YOU IN REGULAR WINDOWS MODE.

Also AMIT, if you can’t get past it being dead in the water, try removing the battery for 5 minutes and put it back in. Then try to if you can go into SAFE MODE to turn back the clock with system restore. That’s all I can think of right now. And thank you to what ever person gave me the idea of running System Restore from safe mode. I never would have thought it would make a difference but it did.

P.S. I originally could not get the SYSTEM RESTORE PROGRAM to work because of an error (would not even show me my created backup dates). Windows gave an error code and when I looked it up at Microsoft Support, it said it was not reading the “shadow files or they were corrupt”. So, under the “services.msc” cmd in found Shadow files entry Disabled. I enabled it and bingo, SYSTEM RESTORE DATES APPEARED. However, still would not turn back in time to completion because of a windows defender error. BUT, going into SAFE MODE AND THEN GOING TO SYSTEM RESTORE IT BYPASSED ANY ERRORS AND RESTORED BACK TO AUGUST 31. That’s all I know about shadow files, by their name, it sounds like files kept for the sake of backup.
