Very appreciative of your thoughts. I'm an admin on windows. Somehow I'm back in business after several reboots and having to hard boot. I have never had a wifi issue that had the reactivate manual/1 hr/etc. Then manual did not work or do anything. System froze up several times. I have done absolutely nothing to my laptop except have MS force an update yesterday that I can't delete. I'm not that au fait with registry stuff but I figure I can work stuff out if I have instructions :) The whole not being able to uninstall updates that I specifically paused is worrying. I understand if it's serious security issues but I dunno what MS are thinking with some of this stuff. I don't want to use edge. Don't keep putting it on my task bar. I really really don't want cortana so let people get rid of it. When will they give up?!

Something like that worked a while back for yet another similar issue. Right now I have no option to rename or add a power plan. Well that just $ucks. Did you try it in Administrator account??? I'm sure you tried the default setting. Hmmmm. I'll keep searching. I'm finding things that include going into the registry, which I'm not real comfortable with, but you may be. SMH at all this ****. Hope you find answer.

I do not have avast. I want to uninstall the update which it won't let me do. This is a serious issue. I turned off auto updates.it is very not ok.

The update in conjunction with Avast is creating issues where the firewall's are somehow blocking certain traffic for no reason. After I turned off my firewall I was able to update office, and use my mail program mailbird which was not receiving any email from gmail accounts. I will continue to monitor this issue and see if it persists but for now the firewall being turned off seems to fix all these issues. It may be an issue from Avast but this should be something that Microsoft and Avast have a conference call over as I cannot be the only one with this issue. Office update or install was not working Mailbird (gmail authentication was not working) Havent tried anything else.
