Hi I have Win 10, and I have a Lifecam HD-3000, and the audio has a hum.
I've tried a couple of units and they are the same, so I know it's not a physical fault.
I also tried changing the sampling rate, a solution offered in other forum answers, but that didn't work.
Does the Lifecam HD-3000 simply not work with windows 10, or is there a solution to get the sound working properly ?

I got this camera a few days ago for my desktop. Same issues as everyone else. Nothing fixes it.
I find it interesting that the camera has been manufactured for years, but this thread was started in Sept 2020.
Definitely a hardware issue and Microsoft needs to fix it and make us whole.
If they don't, I will cease to be a loyal Microsoft customer and I think you all should too.
Sounds like a class-action suit in the making.
I have something of an update.
Microsoft have responded to my query via their customer portal (I can't remember where) and said that they would send me a replacement, which then became an upgrade as this webcam is now (I can't remember the word they used, but something like "obsolete").
I thought that was interesting as it seems to be sold so widely still.
Anyway, they have apparently run out of both, now, so they have offered to give me store credit, but they have asked for the serial number and I threw the box away before Christmas, so I can't supply it.
I don't know what happens now.
Just an information post if anyone finds it helpful. ( GregL66: I don't wish to sue anyone myself. But I suggest you keep the packaging for yours if it is a recent purchase, or at least make a note of the serial number.)
I had a similar experience with Microsoft initially closing my incident without contacting me about the incident, then got it opened again, they then said they were dispatching an upgraded version but later got cancelled because they don’t have any!!!!!! Microsoft doesn’t have any of their own webcams!!! Shocking!
Eventually got Microsoft store credits for the price I paid for it but didn’t require the serial number but just the invoice. Hope you get your refund if you have the invoice.
Thank you, that's good to know! I've already sent them the receipt so I'm not sure if that will be enough. Anyway, they seem to be honouring some kind of commitment to fair play over this, at least if people contact them, so that's good.
Hi, all...been following this thread with frustration, until today. I retraced my steps and made sure my settings matched Techfreak's suggestions, yet the buzz/drone continued. However, I then took a closer look at this 'Listen' tab:
"Listen to this device" was unchecked by default, but the change I made was to switch to "Speakers" from "Default Playback Device" and voilà! No more annoying buzz. Thanks everyone for your suggestions, I hope this can work for others also.
Can confirm that this is the fix.
The constant audio tone was driving me mad but it had to be a combination of software settings.
I can't confirm if the samplerate is a factor (setting to 44.1KHz or 48KHz ('DVD quality') etc, but the definitive setting to remove the hum is to change the 'Playback through this device' setting.
It must NOT be set to 'Default playback device'.
Changing it from 'Default Playback device' to the actual device outputs removed the hum.
