Lifecam HD-3000 bad audio

Hi I have Win 10, and I have a Lifecam HD-3000, and the audio has a hum.

I've tried a couple of units and they are the same, so I know it's not a physical fault.

I also tried changing the sampling rate, a solution offered in other forum answers, but that didn't work.

Does the Lifecam HD-3000 simply not work with windows 10, or is there a solution to get the sound working properly ?

    Hi, all...been following this thread with frustration, until today. I retraced my steps and made sure my settings matched Techfreak's suggestions, yet the buzz/drone continued. However, I then took a closer look at this 'Listen' tab:

    "Listen to this device" was unchecked by default, but the change I made was to switch to "Speakers" from "Default Playback Device" and voilà! No more annoying buzz. Thanks everyone for your suggestions, I hope this can work for others also.

    Has anyone tried to open the camera (there are only two screws, as disassembled here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOU6rBUK0Do) and see if the position of the microphone wires have any influence on the hum? It is possible that they were incorrectly placed when assembled and are too close to some circuitry.

    Obviously, this operation will void the warranty, so only try it if that's not an issue for you.

    Interesting... mine has only begun to do it in the last week, though, and was fine until then. However I have replaced my monitor, which has its own internal speakers, and I wonder if it is somehow incompatible with that. Or it might be that MS has done an update and the drivers don't work properly any more. I don't know what's changed; I've bought a Logitech camera to use instead.

    This suggestion fixed my bad audio as well - set your Lifecam audio to DVD quality (48000 Hz).

    Thanks, but I checked that setting and it's already done. I'm glad if it worked for others though.
