Lifecam HD-3000 bad audio

Hi I have Win 10, and I have a Lifecam HD-3000, and the audio has a hum.

I've tried a couple of units and they are the same, so I know it's not a physical fault.

I also tried changing the sampling rate, a solution offered in other forum answers, but that didn't work.

Does the Lifecam HD-3000 simply not work with windows 10, or is there a solution to get the sound working properly ?

    Looking at some youtube reviews, the sound on this model seems OK, but others have also found hum and buzz to be an issue.

    There may be several minor revisions. I know there are at least two major model numbers. I have model 1492. The other model is 1456. Maybe one model is more resilient than the other. The only generic FAQ I could immediately find for other LifeCam models covering audio issues.

    Have you ever tried the listen to this device option and lowered the mic gain to see if you can hear the hum. I personally connected a USB headset (did not use the headset mic) and enabled Listen to this device and lowered the output to less than 80%. The USB headset or 3.5mm to USB adapter headset helps isolate things. This type of configuration might allow you to orient the camera around to see if the buzzing goes away when the cameras are moved around or away from things.

    Hi thanks for getting back to me. On the box it say model 1492, year 2019. 

    I've played with the microphone input level from 0% to 100%, held the cam away from the monitor, plugged it in a different room in a different computer, turned all the lights off.

    The hum changes with the input level but it's always there.

    I tried the a headset microphone - sound was good, no hum.

    Sooo, I made a fresh install of windows 7 just to test my cams, and still get the bad audio. So, meh, they go back to the shop.

    Hi Ingrid and all,

    I have exactly the same problem. I use the HD-3000 webcam on a Windows 10 PC and it is affected by a hum which makes it unusable for Skype conversations (and for any other use indeed). It is recorded by the voice recorder app too.

    I discarded the previous one (same model) thinking it was defective and I received a brand new one from my company, which however has the same behaviour. In the meanwhile I also changed the PC, moving from a Lenovo X250 to a more performing T490, but the hum remains the same. I tried to attach/remove the USB port expansion as well as to use different USB ports (all of them are 3.0) and to move the cam away from the PC and from other electric appliances with no results.

    A couple of really cheaper Chinese webcams I have, while showing a lower image quality, do not have any sound issue.

    Hope that Microsoft can fix the problem which seems to be quite common, it is a pity having to keep the cams in a drawer and to replace them with cheap Chinese devices!
